Symmetry issues

Post by NoQ »

Every time i make a symmetric map, i realise that it's not actually symmetric, and that it's impossible to make truly symmetric maps in Warzone. The problem is about factories. They always produce units on bottom-left of them, no matter what! Can we do something about it? Maybe spawn a unit at the location near the factory that is closest to the rally point?

Making symmetric 4-player ffa maps is even harder because cyborg factories aren't square and can't be rotated (well, pre-built factories can be rotated, but it's too bad about newly built factories anyway).

Your maps don't have to be THAT symmetrical do they?

Actually that kind of bugs me too.
In general, if you see glowing, pulsating things in the game, you should click on them.

Well, a symmetrical map is a map where no one can complain he has lost because of the map's favoring the enemy. And if you make slow heavy tanks, and they arrive to the battle position several seconds later ... this might be fatal. What bothers me even more is that when factory blocks a 3-tile-wide passage, units will appear on only one side of it, which will be very different for different players.

I'm not sure about spawn points, but factories can be rotated in the master builds.
This is why some features aren't implemented: http://forums.wz2100.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=7490&view=unread#p87241

Sounds great, but:

1. They sometimes need to be *flipped* as well, since we already have maps with bilateral symmetry.
2. I'm not yet sure if i can actually rotate initial (pre-built) factories if they're supposed to have modules on them. That's a FlaME problem.
