SP Sk-HighGround with scavengers - Discuss...

Post by aubergine »

So, I've been playing SP skirmish Sk-HighGround (2 player, T1) whilst on the train to/from London today, at 0.3 game speed so I get maximum productivity, with following settings:

* Scavengers = Yes
* Power = High
* Base = Truck

The enemy player seems to be able to research at a hitherto unimaginable rate, whilst at the same time producing large quantities of troops. It's researched all kind of things before I even get a modest army together.

Taking a versatile approach to building units at the start (yes, you heard right, I've focussed on unit building not turtling!), I can manage to get the oil on the high ground in the middle of the map, and even secure it for a while.

But before long the enemy has crazy powerful tanks with heavy armour (not sure which armour, I'm too busy shouting profanities at the macbook) that blow up my units and buildings (in fact, often several at a time) with a single shot. They appear to be equipped with a heavy cannon or something of that ilk.

I can't work out why the enemy player gets so crazy strong on this map, with the config stated above. It's as if the scavenger oil derreks (sp?) give their oil to the enemy player, even though they are in no way allied. Or maybe the enemy player starts with a full base or more pre-researched tech?

Has anyone else tried this map in this config? Do you find the enemy to be unusually fast at developing it's research and army?

Quite frankly, t's doing my tits in. And I don't have tits.

yes, the stock ai cheats at research speed and power income.

highground is imbalanced and favors player 1 over player 0

were you using a trackpad? if so, tell zarel all about it, using a trackpad really reduces your ability to play, really, i mean, every time i've beaten zarel he's been "using a trackpad"

to be expected it being a macbook

good approach - this time the fail is not your fault. i would suggest playing against dydoAI or multiple AI at average level rather than stock AI on moderate to difficult settings, as this amplifies the cheating quite a bit.

Trackpads pin my APM down from ~80 to ~12. It sucks hard. :|

Though I don't remember ever playing MP using a trackpad, so I don't know what you're talking about.
