I see you're very good with the details, but don't worry, it was just not there yet

Looks very good, the armor plating effects are at a good scale as well. It is also very proportional - beautifully composed!

Composition is a really good word for it Olrox, In a way its like a painting+++... a painting may be worth a thousand words, but you sir are paining in 3 dimensions, so thats worth what, a billion words? and on top of it all you are then presenting your painting as a sculpture... its a very rich medium.
Looks great as usual though, I really like the geometry of the armor plates.

Well, it's a form of art of course, and imo it deserves a place among other mediums, but it's only a single model and a few hours of work. Anyway thank you
I'd say it's finished now, as soon as I have baked the normals.
256x256 texture, 91 tris (182 for both sides)

Wow, this is some seriously amazing stuff. I hope normal mapping is on the docket to be implemented.
Dude, that card's 6 years old. Do yourself a favor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814121380cybersphinx wrote:On my Radeon X800, the lag is significant even with the current models.

Started on the hevy tracks, a slightly more traditional model. Only 82 tris.

Dude, Warzone is 11 years old. Now what do these two things that tell us about it efficiently using resources?killhour wrote:Wow, this is some seriously amazing stuff. I hope normal mapping is on the docket to be implemented.

That is exactly the point that harms the efforts of the AR team, because we don't know if that will ever change, and have no guarantees that our work will be put to good use in the future. What strikes me the most is the possibility that there we could have the need for re-work in the models in the future because of that...Corporal Punishment wrote: Dude, Warzone is 11 years old. I understand that the devs are currently not very motivated now, and that's why I'm not asking for them to tell us now if they'll commit themselves into revising the graphics engine, but my feelings do not cease because of that. If I was indifferent, that wouldn't kill my inspiration like it constantly does.

Really like the tracks Jorzi!
~~~~
How much impact would these new models have on the typical campaign or single player skirmish?
I understand that the new models could really impact the MP games because people spam so much, but has anyone ever tested say, a 4 player skirmish with new models?
I know that MaNGusT tested the textures for the flamer but has anyone else ever tried it with more than that?
It has nothing to do with motivation. It has everything to do with time, and lack of man power.Olrox wrote:That is exactly the point that harms the efforts of the AR team, because we don't know if that will ever change, and have no guarantees that our work will be put to good use in the future. Yes, eventually, someone will get around to it, but at this time, we are working on other parts of the codebase.
At the most, we have maybe one person working on something these days, and on some weeks, nobody. Everyone is away / busy.
Continue to work on the models, and they will be put in the game sometime in the future. Heck, if we get more people to help us, that future might be sooner than you think.
and it ends here.
Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
I am really loving these new models. In my opinion, a graphical overhaul of Warzone is becoming more and more of a priority as over a decade has passed since its release. I know we have numerous other issues that we need to resolve and we do lack the manpower to tackle such a complex issue, but at some point we need to take a look at this if possible. Maybe we won't be able to, but eventually I think graphics will be part of what holds Warzone back from a larger fan base. Just my two cents.
Anyway, keep up the good work, Jorzi!
Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Thank you all for the encouragement. Unfortunately my only coding experience is limited to a few small for-fun "programs" in python, using the very simple tk interface, so even If I would be interested, I cannot contribute anything to the code.
I think there might be someone out there who is good at coding and opengl, but lacks the skill/patience to make his own models. Hopefully, by making proper models, I can inspire someone like that to join the project and make a difference.
