Way back when Warzone was still being developed by Pumpkin Studios, Eidos made a CD with a demo of the game on it. I have two of them, each with a different version of the demo. The demo had sounds that were never implemented in the finished game (I don't even think they existed in anything other than the demo). I decided to add some variety to the death and destruction this game can create.
I have here two sounds from the demo: Medium Explosion and Rocket Firing.
Some of the rockets (Scourge, Lancer, MRL...) will play the new sound when firing.
The Medium Explosion is self-explanatory. In the Warzone we play today, there is a Small Explosion and a Large Explosion. The Medium Explosion was never included, so I put it in.
Install Instructions:
1: First, make a copy of base.wz.
2: Paste it somewhere.
3: Convert the wz file to a zip.
4: Extract the contents.
5: Looks for a folder named audio.
6: Search for a subfolder named "memressp"
7: Inside memressp, there's a folder named "cmndrvoc"
8: Cut/Copy the two sound files you downloaded.
9: Paste them inside the cmndrvoc folder (a window should pop up, asking if you want to overwrite some files.
10: Click yes for both.
11: Put the weaponsounds.txt in a folder (doesn't have to be zipped) and put it in the multiplayer mod folder.
12: Run the folder as you would a mod.
Alternatively, you can post com021.ogg (rocket firing) and com022.ogg (Medium Explosion) in weapons/explosions, but I haven't tested whether or not that method works.
If all works as planned, then you'll hear three different explosion sounds, rather than two. And you'll hear two types of rocket fire sounds.
Sorry for the complicated instructions, I have tremendous difficulty putting the files in a zip or wz. Bad stuff happens.
EDIT: devs, please take note that I haven't changed any sounds for the Sunburst AA. It remains the same because I would probably have to edit more than I'm capable of at the moment.

Does it's there more obscure sounds in your demo CDs (like the medium explosion & rocket sound) that where never implemented.
If so, post them more

Not sure I understand what you mean. Sorry, my way of interpreting things is a little funny.Black Project wrote:Does it's there more obscure sounds in your demo CDs (like the medium explosion & rocket sound) that where never implemented.

Okay, Arreon. I'm going to teach you how to make a mod.
First, you start out with your files: Then, you create a new folder for your work. Let's call it 'mymod', but it doesn't really matter here.
Then, you create folders corresponding to how your new files are arranged in base.wz/mp.wz.
So, inside 'mymod', you'd create a folder called 'audio' and a folder called 'stats'. Inside 'audio', you'd create a folder called 'memressp'. And inside 'memressp', you'd create a folder called 'cmdrvoc': Now, move your files where they go - com021.ogg/com022.ogg into cmdrvoc, and weaponsounds.txt into stats: Now, you select the two bottom-level folders - 'audio' and 'stats'. DO NOT select 'mymod'. Select these folders, and make them into a ZIP file: Now, rename that ZIP file into your mod name. And there you have it! A mod file!

And it would be nice if you could post the wav files in addition to the oggs.

@ cybersphinx
Here they are.
@ Zarel
Thanks for the guide, I appreciate it. I bookmarked the URL.
@ Black Project
I can upload EVERYTHING from the demo CD if the copyright police say it's okay.
I found some interesting stuff on there that probably doesn't exist on the actual game.

Warzone is a open-source GPL, so no problems about copyright issues, but if you still worry about that, you can send a private message to me and upload the sounds to a sharing site (4Shared, MediaFire, 2Shared, but no rapidshare, it sucks).
