Scavenger heavy machinery

Post by Olrox »

Why can't scavs rebuild their bases? :hmm:
Guess they need a truck
So here's the scav monster dumper, fitted with a building module, so that they can repair their buildings and stand against repeated attacks!

Also, the scavengers never had true AA weaps or artillery, but perhaps they could use the new heavy weapons platform, ready to receive AA turrets and mortars!

What do you all think about it? I sincerely think they could use a more diverse array of weapons since they're now facing T2 and T3 forces. It'd make them a worthy enemy, and would avoid massing them up too much just to make up for their weak units. Both models use original textures, and the monster truck is actually the same model without the construction turret.

Ideas for improvements are welcome, as always.

.

The core problem with Scavs is their match-stick / papier-mâché wall defenses which is in turn based on them being morons and not using other materials for their fortifications that would be omnipresent even in the environment of a post nuke holocaust world (actually, even more omnipresent than in the RL of today - and yes, I have something very specific in mind ;) ). Same as with ALL construction & mining Heavy Equipment - making more sense than jeeps and trikes, when you think about it for a couple seconds. But yea, I always thought these were cool ideas. :)

I was just having some fun with bricolage, using the existing textures to see what I could do. Of course, AR models would have much more detail than that, both in geometry and textures. Just wanted to produce something that were plausible of being used along with the original models without any contrast in detailment, so that the idea could be considered for the next versions. Since AA is being beefed up, I thought about providing the scavs some AA firepower, and along with that came the idea of using a dumper truck chassis as base for heavier mobile weaponry (thing that the scavs sort of lack).

As for the defenses, perhaps the idea of using piled containers as wall could be considered? We could have some 4 or 5 different models for straight sections, and make the game use them randomly along long walls?
Just a thought 8)

But anyway, I'm glad that you guys liked the idea! Thanks for your comments.
Let's see how things evolve

The punk rock band would probably be cool with it since they are R.I.P. after putting out their debut album Rock N Roll Is a Contact Sport. ;)

Bricolage... a marvelous technique. XD

Really nice, I also enjoy making new models using the original textures, you automatically get the low-poly instinct and it really stimulates creativity to experiment with combining different readymade textures.

I always thought the scavengers should use repurposed present day military vehicles.

Is this body going to have direct fire weapons mounted on it?
