Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign
Sure, playing territorial grab is fun, but I think it'll get extremely repetitive eventually. That's why I want (down the line of course, but for now just maps) that each territory is a scenario. Something, not to the vast scale of Rman Virgil's crazy awesome map, but something where you have a certain objective. It could be anything from King of the Hill, Kill Count, Defense, or Supply Raiding (You have to kill X number of enemy trucks). But then some more varieties of each. Also, like I said before, the important castle points are just giant fortresses that you have to beat up and destroy a certain building.
-Quick question, so how would we code in a map? A friend of mine is extremely good at making that sort of high-tech map thing, (he's attempting to recreate the effects of modern warfare 2) but it's using video and not software... So would this be something we could apply into the game?

Well, If the territorial bonuses are randomized (What bonus goes where, and how many of each), then territory grab gains some life. But do you think your friend could do cutscenes? Understand, we aren't gonna do this until when WZ switches to Lua. Or if.

well, a map needs two things - a picture and a clickable area. I figure thats pretty easy to do (i mean, drawing squares in lua is pretty easy, actually) as for the rest of it, its just another (very large) programming project.. ive enough programming background to realize how hard this is, and well, frankly, im not sure i could do it given that I will be going back to college in a few weeks.

I can easily make a map given specific restrictions.

Give me the map, and I'll write you guys a campaign.
Basic limits:
No province shall have access to any less than 2 others.

lol touche- map is basically done, just need to clean it up a lot with photoshop... I'll layer in a geological map and create fine semi-transparent white lines for borders.

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign
was mostly kidding really, in reality the separations would revolve slightly more around geological formations instead of pretty straight lines in the ground. No real reason to make a border on some arbitrary spot unless its due to a negotiation with other people, and well, the people in warzone dont seem to be the negotiating type, wouldnt you say?

Yeah, and I think 50 missions may be a little large... Especially if they are a decent size.

I got it. Basically, I'll try to find some reason why a certain area would be useful. How many are you guys thinking would be a good number?

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign
35-40. I say we go one part of the world at a time:
What I mean by that is seperate campaigns for North America, South America, Asia and Australia, Africa, and Europe. It would be good if we could code in special techs for each campaign, EX: super Artillery damage and ROF upgrades for North America, Super MG upgrades for South America, etcetera, etcetera. If we could find a way to give people some of their special upgrades from previous campaigns, then I would love it, but since it is unlikely...

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign
well i was hoping for something similar, maybe divisions between t1 and t2 like the current divisions in the campaign..
My issue would be that the division would have to somehow involve gifting the player all t1 tech they might need to research stuff into the next tech level (like if they pushed straight ahead to the 'boss fight' and skipped all the tech gathering)

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign
Let me put it this way, if you WANT, you can rush the boss. You can also use viper MGs against Rockets and Cannons on hardcrete. And if you WANT, you can send only 10 vipers at a time, but if you consider the possibility that being able to land 50 heavy archangels every 2 minutes, then I think the choice is clear.
