Didnt understand most of that.
So basically im hearing: Rocket artillery is the anti-artillery. Would make sense to be of type anti-structure and decreased in damage slightly (most artillery emplacements are hard once you hit howitzers., and well, a volley of ripple rockets already kills pretty much any artillery building)
However this is also going to make rocket artillery practically useless for shooting anything other than buildings The question at this point is: is that optimal? I would say it is.. (if you want to kill units, your using the wrong weapon.. like using a machinegun vs a vengeance-tracks :p )
Now for a minor side point: mini-rocket cluster thing and the seraph missile array. These seem to be intended to be useless, is this correct? Would anyone object to making them antitank? I understand that currently all indirect weapons are of the 'artillery' damage type, I just dont understand WHY (i think that the mini-rocket artillery is kinda useless because it is NOT anti-tank.. and honestly, im not sure what the deal with their short range is)

It's designed to be effective at destroying soft structures, and the anti-structure damage type is not as effective on soft structures.Lancefighter wrote:... Rocket artillery is the anti-artillery. Would make sense to be of type anti-structure ...
Bunkers and hardpoints are specifically designed to resist artillery bombardment anyways.

Well, thats why you have your Marine ground support and Ravens for point Defense Drones, right? Rines eat Corrupters and pheonixes.

hm your right. But. Artillery isnt 'soft' once you hit t2.
Come to think of it.
I dont see a single structure on(wiki) the base defenses page that is 'soft'. Nor any on the base structures page.
Pretty please explain what is supposed to be soft structures? Scav structures?

So basically. Theres no reason at all for rocket artillery hit soft structures?
Also, missiles of today are made to penetrate bunkers and destroy stuff, is it unreasonable to make them shoot bunkers? Its not like bunkers are really powerful lategame.. are they? the only t2 bunkers i see are flamer and twin assault gun.. and I cant really remember a time when ive had twin assault gun bunkers available to research >.>

They can, it's just that targeting enemy stationary and mobile artillery is much more important.Lancefighter wrote:... is it unreasonable to make them shoot bunkers? ...
When defencive structure design is implemented, there will be a much wider proliferation of bunkers versus hardpoints, fortresses, and emplacements.Lancefighter wrote:... Its not like bunkers are really powerful lategame.. are they? ...
