I think this huge campaign would a worthy idea.If you take the original campaign as an example then you can learn a lot about coding wz,its not that hard just screws your brain sometimes >_<.I take the campaign would be like something from earth 2150? where you got the main base and mission base and you ran both of them at once? lol wz code is crude, i doubt itll be easy on the cpu but i think it can be done if you get at least 5 ppl in the room who know wz.

^ That's exactly why I don't want to allow the player to run all bases at the same time. That would cause unnecessary stress on the CPU and by the later stages of the game where there are tons of units everywhere, the game will probably break and say, "F' you." and shut off.

As ambitious as this project is, you have to take into consideration that if we just do Alpha->Beta->Gamma style then those bases technically WILL exist, but as for what you are seeing on the map, you only have one at a time. Each time you build a base, it will save that map as a scenario, then replay/load it when you activate the province.

I want to cause as little stress to the cpu since this game's requirements are low and I want to keep it that way so more people can play.

Heh, interesting.WZ is simple game came compared with earth 2150 but in 2150 you can fill the WHOLE map with units and the game wont crash, sadly you cant do that in WZ.

Meh. I was thinking more like running it like SC2 campaign. Do this mission to get X tech/techs, or that mission to get Y tech/techs.

Now again, I have ABSOLUTELY no concept of coding except for basic stats coding now (at least it's a step in the right direction), but what the game seems to lack are triggers.

Assault, that whole concept is what Warzone2100 does anyways. The essence of every mission (in the beginning at least) is to get X tech. While it would be cool to do what SCII does, the metagame in WZ2100 will have to be severely limited (unless LUA allows you to do better). Making a story-line would require voice-actors and, in order to do cutscenes, a good graphics artist who is both consistent and dedicated (both of which are nearly impossible to come by on a no-pay basis). Most people will say they're committed, but while a coder can switch hands since coding is straight-forward, voice-acting and graphics artists cannot.

So, go the SC1 approach: Text screens, at least until we can replace them with actual cutscenes. Heck, most of the cutscenes from the campaign are an icon and a voice, as well as subtitles.

NOTE: THIS CAMPAIGN IS COMPLETELY UNBALANCED. This is because when player choice is involved, the balance is not gonna be the same as MP balance.

Here is Mission 1, by the way:

(Working Name) Beginnings of Conquest. Rewards:
Turret: Machinegun
Body: Viper
Propulsion: Wheels
Systems Turret: Truck

Similar to Alpha One, you face scavs

Successful completion unlocks Missions 2 and 3. Missions where it is one or the other will be numbered _a or _b.

Im move of a fan of
mission one, pretty much mission 1. From everything..

then there are no a or b, its just here are the areas you can attack. Its not linear (like sc's campaigns) its just, you can attack this selection of places. Youve played risk, right?

I think all we need here are the stuff from old campaign, story can be told with text and no need for voice acting.Only new thing you need if you gonna use it are the new model pie's.Make a team who will do this and decide on the story line.

I don't think anyone understood what I meant. Because of how the game is going to be set up, there wouldn't be a storyline unless it's a few key scripted events. I was thinking more like you just keep attacking provinces until you took over the US. All the while, you're facing off against two or three enemies who all want to do the same. I don't want to let the player have to choose between mission A and mission B, as long as a province touches another province, it's all fair game.

ok then make it module game, each province should be as a different game or zone.

What I mean for the A or B is that you can choose to side with one faction or another, to gain X tech or Y tech. You can't get both in the same playthrough. And yeah, its nonlinear. You can choose any province your territory touches to attack. The numbers are just for my convinience.

In my opinion, if you can only choose two paths, its still a line. Look at what Dawn of war, dark crusade did, or i think it was mentioned some of the total war games. The idea being you CAN get all the technologies, it will just take longer, sure, but in the end you are a more powerful force for it. Usually.

The paths you can choose really depend on how the map ends up set up. Also, missions 1-3 are intended to be tutorials of sorts. As in, the basics of the control system. I was thinking of attacking being like attacking in Risk, E.G. you can attack any territory adjacent to your own. That is NOT linear. The only "Linear" part is the first and final three missions.

well id disagree on that as well. Maybe the first 3 missions can be linear and all(and hopefully easy if you know what your doing, i HATE extended forced tutorials) but i certainly want to have an easier time on the final mission if i take my time and make preparations beforehand.

The whole point of the 1st 2-3 missions is "Know what you are doing" in most games. And the final 3 provinces are LOCKED until you complete all other missions and gain the needed techs. This is to make sure some idiot doesn't try to win it with MG viper wheels all the way.
