Remaking maps from another games

Just wanted to ask how copyright etc. usually works in such cases. If i make a warzone2100 map very similar to some map from some other game, would i have some licensing problems?

License:
CC-0: Users can do whatever they want with your work.
CC-BY-3.0 + GPLv2: As above, but users must attribute you when modifying/redistributing your work.
CC-BY-SA-3.0 + GPLv2: As above, but users must allow modifying/redistributing of anything they create using your work.

(If you don't know which license to choose, we recommend CC-0. There's no need to restrict what users can do with your map, if you don't care)

But
1. They never write any licensing info when i download a map, and any such info is pretty hard to find.
2. I don't even need to touch the map itself (and i hardly will) to remake it. I can just look at the screenshots on the web.


Well, for example, here is some bunch of maps for Starcraft. How do i know if i'm allowed make warzone maps out of them or not, or at least to take their ideas for warzone maps?

heightmaps. alter them to your taste and satisfaction. put up a pic of the map and then ask.
