After reflecting on multiplayer games, I was thinking, why not an 8-player map that teams 4 n00bs vs. 2 regulars vs. 2 pros? I'm sure it would be great on multiplayer. I'm going to get started on the map, any thoughts or ideas?

n00b bases 45% done:







As you can see there is 8 oil in each n00b base. There is 4 more within the "n00b area" but they are close-by and easily defended. The n00b area itself is rather bottlenecked and thus can be protected easily.

I FINALLY figured out the map texturing-thingamajig, so I don't need to manually place EVERY_SINGLE_TILE anymore. Honestly, where's good documentation when you need it?

N00b bases done. Up north, I've been working on the "regular" bases:





As you can see, north of the n00b base area is flat and contains scattered amounts of oil. The regulars are "caught in the crossfire" between the pros and the n00bs (but you never know- pros may ally with regulars and n00bs may do the same ).

As for the regulars themselves, they have a normal amount of in-base oil (4) and two more oil resources are nearby.

Update: I've decided to swap the locations of the pros and regulars, so now the regulars are up north and the pros are caught in the crossfire.

Four oil, two outside. Down south, there is another flat area with more scattered oil.

Will release beta after features are placed and some balance issues are sorted out.

Announcement: Beta release version 0.85 available!

Here's the first beta release of the map. Feel free to have a look around, even host a multiplayer game (but you should probably let your players know that you are hosting a WIP map ). I'd do it myself, but I'm on vacation ATM.

Also, remember that this is a BETA. Feedback is VERY important as well as bug reports. And be sure to check back after a couple days for the next release.
