Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Hello, back from my weekend trip, thanks for all the crits and advice
Please note that this is just the undetailed lowpoly, I will start on the details as soon as the basic shape is done (as always) since it's much harder to change it once I'm working on the hipoly
Now that I look at it, it does look a bit too bulky, especially compared to the old model. Maybe I will try another design altogether...
About the clipping issue, does anyone know the angle limitations of the bunker buster since it looks a bit limited on the origial design too?
@metalwarrior, you're right that most bunker buster weapons have some kind of laser designator, maybe I can spare a few polys for it....
Maybe I'll experiment a bit with a twin bb design, but that won't be used in the mod for now at least, our goal is only to remake the graphics.

The second one seems nicer. Actually, they both are.

I would go with the left one if I were you.The right one seems to be melting away. And I can already imagine how your left launcher will be reloaded, should this ever be animated. What I think is not going to happen, though.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
What do you think of the hexagonal caps of the launcher tube btw? I copied them from some modern rpg designs since i think the bunker buster was inspired by the special anti-bunker rpg warheads , rather than the bunker-buster bombs dropped via airstrike
Btw I figured out how to scale my models so that the grid resolution in blender matches the coordinate resolution of the .pie format, so I will propably start optimising my models according to that

I like the left-most one the best. The hexagonal ending kind of looks like a nut and bolt to me though. Maybe it would look better if the hexagonal piece was less pronounced.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
The hexagonal ends of the launch tube are by no means connected with anti-structure warheads. The Panzerfaust 3 you show a picture of features them in each and every version. They are only there to protect the launch tube rim from cracking should it hit a hard surface, what is the case pretty often when disembarking from a vehicle or carrying the weapon around in rough terrain. So, they are not really necessary for a vehicle-mounted weapon and only make sense if put on both ends of the launch tube. And, of course, only if the tube is discarded in the reload process. Personally I think that the bunker-buster would match enough of these criteria to justify these end-protection caps. Especially when it comes to discarding the launch tube, this is a typical feature of modern rocket launchers.

CP: Just wanted to say that I'm extremely impressed by your level of knowledge on weapons technology. And I'm sure glad you're here.

Yep, I was indeed thinking of pre-loaded tubes that are replaced while reloading. These would of course have protective caps made of rubber/foam. The only reason the front cap is not there on my left design is to keep the polycount low...

Jorzi, this stuff looks great, but is there a reason why you don't release a installer with all the models in the game right now?
Berg has done that, and it has his stuff in it, so why don't you guys do this as well?
Hell, why don't you guys team up?

for one berg does not want to be part of AR, for two we will release the next revision when the models are done (they still need textures).

Indeed, also, I have never converted a model into .pie and I know very little about modding, I mainly do modeling only.

Nice one...Jorzi wrote:update on the hi-poly, still trying to come up with a few more details...
Still, the base looks too massive to me...
