Is the only way to have Repair Turrets repair a Command Turret (without having them attempt to link with it) to simply move them up near the Commander and hope that they choose to repair it first over any other nearby damaged unit? I can't seem to find any way of explicitly ordering the Repair Turrets: "You lot, repair this Commander first."
This probably touches on the more the general issue of linking and unlinking with the Command Turret. Whereas other posts wish that one could give linked units orders (such as "clear the way" or "come up closer to the Commander") without breaking the command link, in this case I need to give orders for the Repair Turret regarding the Commander ("repair that one") without creating a link. I have read on some older posts about the idea of using a modifier-key to make linking and unlinking a more explicit action, allowing one to give additional commands without changing the link status.

Zarel, could this go in a section of the Commanders page in the guide as "Repairing a Commander", or "Repairing the commander without accidentally linking" ?Zarel wrote:Alt+click on the commander.
Also, I think I remember reading somewhere that the Guide pages have been formatted to be easily printable. If that's the case, could you please mention it on the first page of the Guide. Something like how Wikipedia has notices on the top so that no one misses it? I think it is better that the user is informed about this. And after reading this notice, newbies may actually consider printing it it they think it will be of use to them. What do you think?

Erm, well, notices like that look kind of ugly on the main page. Maybe at the bottom... :/j0shdrunk0nwar wrote:Also, I think I remember reading somewhere that the Guide pages have been formatted to be easily printable. You're probably right. As long as the person browsing through gets to know it, it is effective. At the bottom should work fine i guess. Your call.Zarel wrote:Erm, well, notices like that look kind of ugly on the main page. Maybe at the bottom... :/

With respect, searching for repair command does not show your topic in the results. I apologize for my poor skills in wrestling with the search system, but I only just realized that it requires searching for repair* command* in order to find your topic, and in either case I do get pages and pages of false positives; I had to come back the other way after ten pages to see your post stuck about halfway down the first page of results.Ubermad wrote:viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5631
i helps alot to search the forum before posting a new thread on it
Search terms have never been my strong suit, but I do nonetheless do my best. That's all anyone can ask for, isn't it?

Yeah, well, phpBB really doesn't have the best search engine ever.
If you Google search for repair command site:wz2100.net: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=c ... et&qscrl=1
You get "Commander Things" in the fifth result, which is what you're looking for.
It's so low mainly because "command" has too many meanings. Use either "command turret" or "commander" to talk about commander units.
[repair commander] and [repair "command turret"] both have relevant threads as the first result.
I note that Ubermad didn't notice that his thread was like the fifth thread so far on the subject, so it's not like yours is the first duplicate.
It's a topic that's difficult to find information on.

Re: Order Repair Turrets to Repair Commander
Thanks for the search hints.
I'm still having issues, though. In either mode of giving orders with the mouse (Switch Mouse Buttons), Alt+Click allows me to order weapons to fire on my own units, including the Commander; but the Repair Turret completely ignores the Alt+Click, including for normal units! All I get is the click-acknowledgment chirp and nothing else happens.
Also, is there any way to queue repairing? It seems like Ctrl/Shift completely overrides Alt so that one can only toggle whether the unit one is trying to repair is selected.

Both of those are bugs. I invite you to report them to the bug tracker, but I don't have time to fix them immediately.iwz wrote:I'm still having issues, though.
