Re: more propulsion ideas (2)
well josh the game play for warzone really doesnt allow for water only units, so we do need a multi terrain propulsion system.
sorry this came late but i thought still inportant.

I agree, but that's going to change soon. Naval units are actually being worked on by Per, its mentioned in the Frequently Proposed Ideas - FPI,nighthawk wrote:well josh the game play for warzone really doesnt allow for water only units, so we do need a multi terrain propulsion system.

And check out this thread to be amazedIdeas being worked on
These are ideas that have been accepted as desirable, and are already being worked on by a developer.
Research queue - worked on by Zarel
naval units - worked on by Per
jetpack cyborgs - scheduled for future

Damn looks like i got beat to the spiders
personally i dont think naval units have much place in the game play, they are better for larger water maps and we dont have or make many of those.

I noticed that everyone is saying how the first one is far too much like hover, but then I just realized something -> why don't you make a mod for this and JUST TAKE OUT HOVER not only would that give 100% more purpose to the boat/land vehicle, but also gives a point to naval units that, hopefully will be put into the game. I may be going backwards here with the removal of hover, but as they say, in order to progress you need to take one step back and two steps forward.

Re: more propulsion ideas (2)
You got told it was a good idea. That's not entirely the same as it being accepted.
As I understand it, the details still haven't been worked out, so unless we have a finished mod balance-tested on our hands, it's too early to say if the end product will be accepted.

This is an awful idea. Hover is an excellent component of the game.DTSX wrote:I noticed that everyone is saying how the first one is far too much like hover, but then I just realized something -> why don't you make a mod for this and JUST TAKE OUT HOVER not only would that give 100% more purpose to the boat/land vehicle, but also gives a point to naval units that, hopefully will be put into the game. It is an excellent component, but for what this person wants, it would require the removal of hover in leu of that, there will be naval and DUCKs

Once the Naval Units arrive, water maps will follow..nighthawk wrote:personally i dont think naval units have much place in the game play, they are better for larger water maps and we dont have or make many of those.
Check out these new textures in the artwork section. Work in Progress , but I like it.

OH! i just had a brainstorm, kick me. Anyways, Josh, you said that we needed more specialized, well, pertaining to my earlier idea of a helicopter style propulsion, I think it might be fun, to either, A: Make the helicopters have adjustable altitudes. or B: Make the helicopters have a higher altitude and go over obstacles, (like vtol's) and have the vtol's not be able to go over obstacles but have to go around hills and such. ^^

Re: more propulsion ideas (2)
Here's how I'd do it.
Amphibious travel could be a research item that applies to all light-body land vehicles (wheeled, half- and fully tracked) after researching it, traveling at half their top speed whilst swimming, and certain turrets would be unable to fire whilst in the water.
Hovercraft would move at the same speed on water and land, but be limited in what weapons they could carry in much the same way VTOLs are as well as some restrictions on firing whilst on the water.
Boats would of course be limited to the water, but be able to mount any weapon turret. I'd also give medium and large boat bodies two weapon hardpoints, and possibly include a super-heavy boat with two weapon and one sensor hardpoint.
Thoughts?
Edit: Actually, the naval content would be a brilliant basis for some new campaign content, expansion pack-style. If you guys were up for that I'd do a storyline for it.
