Stored Templates
Stored Templates
Hi all,
As some of you may already know, now that my exams have finished I am allocating one day a week to working on Warzone.
To this end, over the past day or so, I have been working on adding support for stored templates. Stored templates are a solution to a common problem: that of having to continually redesign the same old templates again and again every time you start a new game.
They work by adding a button to the design screen which allows for a template to be saved to disk. As soon as one has researched all the prerequisites for a stored template it is made available in the design screen.
While the feature is not yet finished -- I still need to perform some more extensive testing and find some more appropriate icons for the button (Mr. Turret and Mr. Recycle bin are definitely not suitable!) -- a patch is available. Those that are interested can find the patch in the tracker here: http://developer.wz2100.net/ticket/1946
Feedback and commentary appreciated.
Polemically yours, Freddie.

In general, if you see glowing, pulsating things in the game, you should click on them.

Sweet.
This will surely enhance the quality of attention & tasking on the field of combat by lessening rote, non-combat, switch-tasking. A substantive improvement this &, me thinks, any mechanic design going forward that is guided by the underlying formulation.

Re: Stored Templates
I hope you remember not to load new stored templates with no Command Center.
Re: Stored Templates
I think this could enhance the old "Force Editor", which I would like to see put back in as an option.
Do you think the "force editor" could be brought back (like on turns on/off scavengers, you could turn on or off a starting force), and use these stored tempates?
The old force editor had some designs I would never use, and there were designs I wanted that it didn't have (that would have been composed of components found on designs it did have)
