Few problems with Warzone
Hello Devs/Members
Me and my father have been playing Warzone for quite some time now, and the game is a loved in our household, however after re-formatting our PC's due to technical problems, our warzone copies have since, not worked as they should. I will describe in more detail below, along with my system specs.
When we load the warzone game, the menu is running very slowly, the animations take a few more seconds to load, when im trying to start either a campaign game, or a skirmish mode game, it gets about 10 seconds into the loading screen, then crashes.
The error is saying that warzone has stopped responding with the system, or something like that.
A screenshot showing the error is below
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/8337/w ... roblem.jpg
Our system specs are
3GB RAM
ATI Cayalyst Graphics Card
250GB HDD
Our system is much more than capable of running warzone 2100.
I HAVE updated the OpenGL files and updated my graphics card drivers.
Could anyone point me in the right direction? as i am very lost without the game hehe
Thank you very much in advance
Edit:
Sorry for the edit, but something else, i feel i need to add. This happens EVERY time we attempt to play this game on our PC 'i cant quite understand it.

Re: Few problems with Warzone
If it was a crash you should find a log in c:/my documents/warzone#.#.# I dont know what version you have.
This info and info about your system will help trouble shoot your error.
WHat card do you have
CPU
RAM
etc
PS: I would suggest that if warzone was working on the same system before and now its not, Look at your graphics drivers again because this is next to always the issue

Re: Few problems with Warzone
Hello Berg,
Thank you for such a fast responce, I believe i posted my RAM details in my first post? however my CPU isnt there, so I will add that, I apologise in advance for that.
AMD Athlon X2 DualCore 2.10GHz
I am currently running the latest version (2.3.1) I looked into that folder that you pointed me to, but i am afraid i couldent find any crash log, is there any specifics you could give me?
Thank you

Re: Few problems with Warzone
Hi
I found the log file (Found it eventually) most of them just contain
--- Starting log ---
However clicking through a few of the files, a couple of them contained:
--- Starting log ---
error |08:30:46: [texLoad] Max supported texture size 1024x1024 is too low - reducing texture detail to 64x64.
I'm afraid this type of speak stumps me completely.
Literally about 30 seconds ago I updated my Graphics Card drivers from the official website, I can assure you they are up to date.
But the same problem still resides unfortunately.

It may mean you card cant handle the graphics so well if you can get warzone to start you can change your graphics to use lower tilesize etc turn off shadows and restart your warzone if you cant get it started goto the warzone folder in my documents and edit config file by hand making the texture 64 etc then try warzone again

Re: Few problems with Warzone
Hi Berg,
I did as you have suggested, i turned the texture to 64 and turned off any advanced graphical features like Shadowing etc. And still to no avail unfortunately.
I have even tried to use the windowed mode as you just suggested, but its still only producing the same results.
I know that from experience our graphics card can handle the graphics, as before we re-formatted our machine, the game was working perfectly and very smoothly.
I really cant understand what I've done to make this happen, nothing that i know about

Re: Few problems with Warzone
It seems either your drivers are not good enough i know you said you have the best Im just suggesting you double check and make sure you get the latest opengl available for your unit.
One last suggestion is make sure you screen resolution is the same as the one your desktop uses by default this may help

Re: Few problems with Warzone
Hi Berg,
I managed to get one of the games loaded, but the graphics/textures are not there
http://yfrog.com/58workingbutj < Screenshot of whats going on
I downloaded a new OpenGL.dll from dllfiles.com and put that into my system directory, things sped up a little bit, but the main problems are still there.
Any ideas?

Looks very much like driver issues Im not expert but thats what i think if you can remember what old drivers you had before you reinstalled your system that would be a bonus.

Re: Few problems with Warzone
Usual fixes for opengl problems:
update drivers from manufacturer's site
turn off compositing window managers ( Windows Aero theme, compiz, kde4 effects on linux, who knows on OSX)
turn down hardware acceleration.
reduce number of display colors

Re: Few problems with Warzone
Why does it take 12 posts before someone mentions installing drivers?
Dudes, "It was working before, then I reinstalled the OS and it stopped working" is like the #1 most obvious sign that you need to reinstall drivers.
"The game is running really slowly" is also a pretty big hint.
Heck, even if it's neither of these problems, "install drivers" is still like the first thing you should recommend.

Getting individual DLLs is usually a bad idea - if you're missing a DLL, you want to install it using the corresponding package. In this case, that would be the graphics drivers from your video card manufacturer. Go install them. Now. Revert OpenGL.dll first, if you can.viper wrote:I downloaded a new OpenGL.dll from dllfiles.com and put that into my system directory, things sped up a little bit, but the main problems are still there.
