A few questions, silos and nuclear weapons

Post by c09ff »

So I learned that there are Missile silos, but how to use them?
are there nuclear weapons also? where and how to design or use them?
is there an A-bomb which can be dropped?

All this confusion stems from the fact that there's a missile silo available in cheat mode. :|

There's a missile silo in one of the early Gamma missions. It belongs to Nexus. You're supposed to destroy it before Nexus can launch nukes.

We do not have any plans to otherwise have silos or nuclear weapons in the game, and I can say with a reasonable level of confidence that we never will.

There are also silos in the later gamma missions (7 and 8 ). In a way, you use them to destroy Nexus's laser satellites, but it's all scripted in response to your capturing them in the first place, and to the research you do to enable their use. They are not otherwise controlled by the player.

Edited to fix inadvertent smiley.

ok in the "Challenges " there is a weapon, i don't know which. it blasts like a huge beam of fire lolz on more than one structures together, what is that? is it a nuke? (since i am new to this game, only AI players have used it on me i somehow manage to repair)
if only the AI can use a nuke then even the player should be allowed to use it.
how exactly should they be used if they are not controlled by the player?

What really baffles me is why a player had to come to the forums to learn how to use a basic feature of the game? :hmm:

Maybe this simple procedure needs to go in some sort of documentation. Perhaps in some section of the guide?

Or maybe when the player clicks on the Laser Satellite Post a message on top appears telling him to "Click on the enemy structure to destroy". This info can come right next to, or below, the info showing the name of the structure.

This would improve the quality of interaction between the player and the game, IMHO.

There are some prerequisites that you must research before you get to research the Laser Satellite Command Post

Check out the Tech Tree to get a better understanding of how the concept of research works in WZ2100.

In my opinion, when you right click LasSat you should be able to get a button that allows you to direct the attack instead of using a hotkey. There's one for Patrol, Retreat at medium damage (which nobody ever uses) so I don't see why we can't have a LasSat button.

We could have more documentation than the Encyclopedia Britannica and people would still ask basic questions on the forums that they could quickly answer for themselves . It seems to be a quirk of human nature. Speculation as to the reason is left as an exercise for the reader.

Erm, we already do that?
