Hi all, my first post to the warzone forums. I am a long time player, and after a hiatus I recently downloaded the latest (and greatest) warzone.
But to my great displeasure when I started it up in Windows 7 x64, there was bad screen flickering that looked much like an old monitor with bad refresh rates. Unfortunately the issue was in both the menu screens and the game itself.
So I tried a half dozen different drivers for my Geforce Go 7950gtx. To no avail, between regular and forceware drivers.
After searching both here and the net for a few hours, I came across some discussion by the Quake community on the same issue:
Here is the answer:
1.Download and run RivaTuner
2. On the general tab, click the magnifying glass to scan registry for existing profiles, scroll down the list in the next screen until you find warzone2100.exe
3. Click the checkmark, and click "ok"
4. Back under the general tab, where "Global Driver Settings" is in the dropdown box, you should be able to click into that box and select "Personal Settings for warzone2100.exe"
5. Click the right triangle beside Customize, from the small menu that appears click "OpenGL" it's second from the right.
6. Under OpenGL Tweaks, select the Back / Depth Buffering tab.
7. In the Back / Depth Buffing tab, change Back Buffer Flipping mode from "Auto" to "Block"
8. Also make sure "Force Tripple Buffering" is UNCHECKED.
9. Then click "Ok" and "Ok" again, now launch Warzone2100, and it should nolonger be flickering in fullscreen mode!
10. If this doesnt work, turn on force tripple buffering, and try again, this seems graphics card series dependant, or maybe driver dependant im not sure.
I am unsure if this fix will resolve other screen related issues, but it is always worth a try!
Hopefully this helps others who are running 7 x64 with slightly older Nvidia series cards.

Usually, most of these things can be achieved by doing some in-game things, like disabling shadows or disabling colored cursors. And this is fairly complicated, and requires you to have RivaTuner, which altough very good and high quality product, is rarely used. Btw, these things can also be ajdusted in nVidia CP.

I was, and still am unable to find any options in the nvidia control panel for back buffer flipping mode- perhaps some instructions on where it may be found would be good. Regardless of how often a program is or isnt used, if it does the trick, then it's served its purpose.

You don't need to, btw. I would recommend leaving both those options off. I would definitely recommend leaving "Run as admin" off, it screws with the permission system.Dourden4 wrote:I run Win 7 32 bit, and i have the game set as "run as admin" and "run in compatibility mode for windows xp sp3" dont know if that will help or not, works for me.
