No more resolution switching in warzone?

Post by Crymson »

I was reading the mailing list again, and I came across this discussion about QT
2. Fullscreen performance is lower. Not when comparing at the same resolution,
but since Qt lacks resolution switching I can't switch to a lower resolution to
get higher FPS (e.g. on fast play I get 60 fps with trunk at 1024x768, 30 fps
with qt at 1600x1200).
I don't know about anyone else, but my desktop is much bigger than the resolution I play games with.
This would be a serious flaw in using QT instead of the old system.
Please say it ain't so! :(

I never knew about this limitation, but this issue itself would cause many people not to be able to play warzone anymore because of the performance hit.

I saw a update on the mailing list again, https://mail.gna.org/public/warzone-dev ... 00106.html

Buginator wants it known that he considers this a blocker for the merge.
What about the other Devs, no comments?

Why do you guys keep using GNA! for this stuff? Is it to hide discussions? The commit mailing list is on SourceForge, so why not have all the mailing lists on SourceForge as well?
This is rather odd. O_o

Why should we move it? We've used that list for years, it works well (SVN didn't, so we moved that to SF), and it is linked from the FAQ, so interested parties should be able to find it.

Personally, I would prefer if we moved to Sourceforge ML's. Gna's ML's are hidden behind a self-signed cert, which most browsers treat about as well to a forged cert.

Oh, right, the archive is. It's mirrored on Gmane though, and SF's archives suck donkey balls.

Not just the archive, but also the sign-up mechanism.
