No cutscenes in Ubuntu

Post by Tron87 »

Hi,
Just installed WZ and it runs perfectly (and very quickly, too). The only problem so far is that I cannot view the intro. Nothing on start up, a brief blink then I click "View intro" (or however its called) in the menu and absolutely nothing to tell me whats going and what am I supposed to do once the campaign starts.
Hardware specs: Samsung N210 1024*600 screen, Intel Atom, 1 Gb, 250 Gb HDD.
Software: Ubuntu Linux 10.4 Netbook edition, WZ (version 2.2.4-3) installed from depository. The system is fully updated and video codecs installed from the depository as well (pardon me if they are called something different in Linux, I grew up with Windows).
Is it supposed to be this way?
PS I am prepared for some Terminal Kung-Fu, but don't expect too much. As I said, I grew up using Windows, and cmd.exe was not my favorite toy =)

Reason: Changed title from "No cutscenes in ununtu"

if not you can get them here http://wz2100.net/download also see how to install them.
Also there is a tutorial in the menu you might see that for help on how to play.

Nope, I had no idea they are not packaged with the rest of the game. Thank you for the swift reply, I am downloading now.
By the way, I think I am doing something wrong with the tute. After I build the Viper it says I am ready for an operation.. then nothing happens. It must be me, the game looks too polished to have such a goof...

They are packaged with the rest of the game in Windows and Mac OS X.

In Linux, the tarball doesn't come with videos, and we make no guarantees about your distro's repository.

Can you influence what's written in the package description in the repository? If you do, a simple "please go to this site and download the videos" line would be enough. I mean, if you are trying to make your game accessible...

You can do that as well. Just file a bug and tell them how you found out about the videos.

Might be an idea to fix warzone's front page so the download Green button has that info close to it for linux.
