WZ Slowing down

Post by Firechkn34 »

I keep having a problem on all versions of WZ that i try. When i am playing the game it gradually slows down, until it is almost non responsive. Saving the game seems to fix the problem for about 90sec, then it starts slowing down again. I know my computer is fast enough because i can run some of the newest, highest quality (graphics wise) on it; i.e. C&C 4, crysis, Civ 4 etc.

Anyone know what the problem might be?

Old ATI graphics card?

This is likely a system specific problem but you have included no details about what you are running.

Play 640x480, and see if it is better, also try --window mode
and it ends here.

That seemed to help. 30 min into game and it hasn't locked up yet. Windowed and 1024x768.

Well, it's back now. Even running it in 1024x768 and windowed, Warzone is becoming so slow it is almost impossible to play. What do i do?

Try turning off sound (start with --nosound parameter), then try turning off shadows (--noshadows parameter), see if that helps. Then check system monitor, to see if the game hits the ceiling on CPU usage or RAM usage. Then report back, let us know how that goes.

I was having almost the same problem last night playing a skirmish game It would stop the game for 2-3 seconds every 30 seconds. Checked my "task manager" to see what else was running at the same time. It was the indexing service taking precious cpu. I unchecked "allow indexing service" in the hard drive properties, stopped it running inthe the "task manager" and disabled it in the services folder. That fixed my problem, hope it helps you. In any case checking "task manager" processes to see what else is running at the same time and taking up cpu might give you a clue to the problem if it's ot hardware related.

Okay, well i closed down the Firefox that i had running. that seemed to help alot, but it is still not what it should be. And also, in the past , i have been running itunes, Firefox and C&C generals all at the same time without any problems; that is what has me concerned about this.
