Re: Meta-Game.
Ok, first of all do we want a global resource? e.g. oil. As this could control things like movement of armys, research etc.
Second to that is what shall we do for a research system? Should we have it so you have to develop tech for your faction (thus allowing it to be reserched in Real Time battles) or do factions start will all tech already unlocked?
What do we all think?

Re: Meta-Game.
hmmm, global resource is good, and as for research i think focused research like in-game should be further fine tuned, so if a player wants cheap units, he can research further down the field to make high tech yet cheap units (sounds weird but i mean like a bug machine gun wheels is cheaper then a viper machine gun wheels just weaker) maybe their faction is saved so research can continue from where it left off, so new player might think twice about all out assault against a stronger player but might hit and run for tech?
dunno how that would work im no modder, but i think that would be the best course of action... unless i'm on the wrong track here?

Its all possible but some things will need coding in while others will work from the off.

IDEA!!!
Hoping i don't mess up your ideas but WHAT IF, each gets a randomly generated area (maybe before he can join the meta game must clear a map of an ai?) and when he does that he gets a main base? I've always liked how you had a main base to build and send reinforcements while guarding an LZ. after every match you get a time limit to build up your main before you have to attack another person? ~or whatever~
i realize this is a pretty shoot for the stars attitude but you know, cant hurt to throw in my opinion.... i hope

I'm not willing to play in this, at least the first round, but if you present me with the "campaign map" I will gladly design maps for each strategic point/battle.

Re: Meta-Game.
Np at all. Im thinking the first campaign tester will be based around a small amount of maps/levels. I was thinking of the falklands with 3 battle maps on the 2 landmasses and 1 HQ point (also a battle map) per landmass. I would have done more by now but work as of late has had me really bogged down so ill try make progress when i can.

I'd prefer if any artistic detail is kept to a minimum.

I'd rather go for "subtle", since you can have awesome, subtle effectsBiotecVirus wrote:I'd prefer if any artistic detail is kept to a minimum.
I mean, if you use too few details it would probably look ugly - if a subtle composition is used, the results can be detailed, but won't draw too much attention from what's more important - the game itself
BTW, it's a great idea, I wish you luck!

Re: Meta-Game.
But it has to be balanced with useability, e.g. players can easily see what there faction owns etc which is hard to get if it becomes too detailed.

Re: Meta-Game.
Yeah, sure - what I meant was more about semantics anyway, sorry. It's because "detailed" doesn't necessarily mean "cluttered" or "matted", if the details are made with subtletyBiotecVirus wrote:But it has to be balanced with useability, e.g. players can easily see what there faction owns etc which is hard to get if it becomes too detailed.
