Using Kubuntu 10.04 with Nvidia 9500GT (driver 195.36.24) Warzone only shows the menu shortly, then it crashes and closes the program. When I start Warzone with the --nosound option, it works normally (but without sound of course).
This is the behaviour with version 2.2.4 (in version 2.3 the crash seems even more severe: tried to start in full-screen but then the computer didn't respond to anyhing anymore)
Dump file is attached.
Does anyone know if I should reconfigure sound or should I file this as a bug?

You should update your audio drivers.
And if the problem has something to do with sound, why talking about graphic card?
But, updating graphic drives could be useful, too.

Thank you for responding. Any idea about how to update the audio drivers? Just upgraded from Karmic to Lucid, I assume the drivers should be quite recent.
Graphics drivers are the latest available.

Oh, man, don't tell me Lucid broke sound again! Oh, Ubuntu...
There are instructions for fixing sound in Ubuntu littered around the forum. See if those help.

Re: Warzone only starts with --nosound option
tried to install the two packages mentioned in viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4615 as well as creating ~/.alsoftrc with a line "drivers=pulse,[other sound servers]"
Then rebooted, but I still have the same error.
Didn't find other relevant threads, do you have another hint for resolving this issue?

Re: Warzone only starts with --nosound option
Remove/update pulseaudio & install/update openal-soft
and it ends here.
