Sure, but it's best when done during night, but in this case when users are from different timezones then it's impossible.
Anyway, best way to avoid complaints is to test everything locally (if it's possible to setup environment very similar or identical to that on server) and then upload changes and fix issues which can show up in process.

I don't have everywhere the possibilities to fire up a whole Apache-PHP-PostgreSQL stack. I had some time to spare and it is basically just a small amount of copy & paste as well as some trial and error. A job of 5~10 minutes, and since we aren't some coorperate site and since it doesn't harm sombody meanwhile (except some visual glitches) I don't really bother.

And ship happened. Some important route died just inbefore I was done. Which caused the server to be inaccessible for at least me and a lot of other persons. Well, sh*t happens. I'm not getting paid for this, so i guess that I can do this a little bit more relaxed
