There isn't much we can do about driver issues, but since you have compiled the game you could try your luck by removing all the calls to "loadMapPreview," ( 3 in multiint.c and 1 in multiopt.c .)
Done that, works like a charm!

Thank you !

Good Idea, Great Work !!!

Might this solution apply also to the win** #7 problem ?

The function loadMapPreview is commented as a hack. Has anyone tried to simplify it as yet ? Hacks do often result in preformance problems, since they tend to do far too much about the task at hand...

Well, again, THANKS !

You misunderstand what the hack is.
In this case, the problem is definitely your video drivers.
Drivers should not crash with the use of FBOs, nor should they report 'working' FBOs when that isn't the case.
I suggest you file bug reports with the video driver maker, and maybe they will fix it one of these days. :)
and it ends here.

Leave it alone, Bug!

Buginator, the issue is closed, your comments are neither helpfull nor wanted. You don't seem to understand that this game is used by some ...experienced... heck, older people with rather diverse backgrounds who need some smart game to unwind...

The solution is a perfect workaround for PCs with ancient graphics cards and devant op systems,
i.e. for those oldtimers who tend to compile for each machine seperately (got another one where 2.3 never will run... and it's plenty good enough for desk work etc. )

Hack ?

What do you think is contained in the proprietary code so many people venture to purchase ? :lol2:

And one more thing -
be part of the solution, not the problem. :lecture:

I think Bug' was just trying to explain his answer to your question about the hack applying to other realms - no need to get upset

Well if you put it that way, you yourself said the issue was closed therefore he cannot be part of the solution if there is nothing to solve :annoyed:

Heaven forbid someone would try to educated you to the real problem, so you can complain to the correct people (ie, the folks who made the drivers that are lying about their capabilities), so it can be fixed, instead of disabling things... but whatever.
and it ends here.

I've had it.

Heaven forbid you really read what other people wrote.

Just enabeling someone to go on when nobody else was interested. This was a fix for a very old machine with components no one gives a damn about.

Enough is enough.

Keep your game.

So go on oh High And Mighty Demanding Perfection Everywhere.

I'm out of this toyland for destruction affectionodos with control complex.

You know, Buginator isn't the only dev here. The rest of us would [also] have our feelings hurt if you left. :(

The Devs here bent over backwards to help and Buginator did not deserve this reply.

Private Bill obviously misunderstands the difference between a work around and a permanent solution / fix that could not only help him in the long run but also many others. Instead he choose to flame after he was happy with his solution. You guys are donating your time and got better things to do than dealing with attitudes. IMO I would not only heed his request but also permanently ban him. You are way to nice Zarel.

Both people phrased their replies badly and there may have been some misinterpretation involved; I won't judge either of them. An outburst of anger is hardly worth a ban. I've seen people come around.

Thank you, Zarel.

In my case, technical problems and very personal issues got intertwined, I felt painfully attacked on a very personal level.

There is an odd reason why I rather desperately needed this game a couple of month ago.
Do you have any Thread dealing with "Why I Play This Game" ?
Explanations - if wanted - should go there.

Hadn't noticed there were reserved colors. (Where could one find the list ? Might have overlooked something obvious ? )

And, by the way, you all did excellent work on your new 2.3. Thought you should now that.

I'm sorry that happened. We try to keep the forums a polite place, but that isn't always possible. :( I'm glad you're calmer now. :)

There's a thread called Why Are We Addicted to Warzone? that I think is what you're referring to.

We usually use red for moderators (although we give exceptions if you're color coding something). It's like the one policy that I haven't gotten around to actually writing down. :/

Thanks. :)
