You know, all you had to do to make that a link I could click on, was to not put it in code tags...

Why did you put it in code tags? o_O

It's unfortunate how many people don't realize we have a new logo. :(

Here's a try, putting credits on the credits screen.

(It's more readable at full resolution.)

CinC: Looks awesome man, would you be willing to let that be used as a credits image?

Limited space is always problem...

Without tabs or scrollbars or kind of animation (GIMP has something like this in about dialog, as far as I remember, maybe Mozilla Firefox too).

Anyway, I think that's too many information for screen that is shown when game is closed and nearly everybody clicks it to close it (is it used at all in modern games?).

So maybe it's better to make it accessible through main menu as About / Credits entry and do not show it when exiting, it's just annoying then.

I like the 'Special thanks' part, the rest... not really. It will be too hard to keep it updated.
Heck, if we want credits, we can just read in the AUTHORS file, and display that.
and it ends here.

Font rendering is important. Photoshop-rendered fonts with hinting/kerning/subpixel-rendering/etc - plus gradients, stroke, and drop shadows - look much better than what QuesoGLC produces. It's not hard to keep te Contributors list updated - it doesn't change that much.

I would really hate to see something like that in the game. Especially with someone's name appearing four or five times.

A lot of people have contributed to WZ. Certainly, we owe a nod of thanks to Pumpkin for opening the source and making this project possible.

Since then, over time, there have been core groups of developers, but there are many people who have contributed in smaller but necessary ways: translators, patch submitters, people who take the time to file bug reports (hurray!), and the army of testers that make Open Source work. And let's not forget the people that keep our website and servers running.

Having a contributors page is a good idea, but unless it is scrollable, it is probably long enough that it should be a web page or text file included with the game. Paring it down to a minimal subset leaves too many people out; not good manners.

I've never particularly liked autoscrolling credits screens, because they're annoying unless they scroll at the exact speed a person reads (which may not even be the same for the same person, if, for instance, they're stressed, or sleepy, or something). Perhaps we should consider something like pagination.

We don't have that many contributors, anyway - I'm pretty sure the credits would fit on one or two pages. The image I currently have has everyone in the AUTHORS list - we have historically neglected to recognize translators, and I do agree that that should be changed, but blaming the guy who makes the credits screen is not the way to do it.

As for a person appearing "four or five times" - my name appears twice, because I believe that is the best way to explain my role in the project, and because each of my contributions in their respective categories would by themselves have put me in that category of the list. If you feel that's too many, I'll remove myself from "documentation/website".

You are right. So have you ever thought about a own "credits" button in the main menu? Most games have something like this.

There you could make a small list like:

Buginater: Developer
Cyp: Developer
Zarel: Developer; Website and Documentation

and so on...
and so on...

It would be easy to produce, wouldn't take much space and it could be updated with every patch if necessary. And everybody who wants to see it could see it, but it would not be necessary. The image on the end could then be used for other things, like say someone thank you, an advise, or joke ...

That is not in question; we are already planning that.

We are planning on removing the image entirely - "Quit game" should quit the game, not display a credits screen.

Nice improvement on the original pic Saberuneko! The billboards blend in much better now. The suggestion about the LZ lights on them could possibly be a nice touch, along with the transport floating somewhere in the pic.

But I do prefer the simpler approach with each person's name mentioned under their respective category.
And yeah, I suppose quitting the game shouldn't bring up the Credits or a ton of other info., at most it should just be a confirmation.

Zarel your name can stay for both dev and website, since you do work on them both (:
