I've some ideas for small renaming that could improve a bit naming of some things...
First, why to not rename that radar view to mini map? Naming it "radar" is a bit confusing.
Second, maybe NEXUS Link turret could be renamed to something without faction name? This is only unit that has in it's name name of faction which uses it. Maybe it could be named simply Link, Linker, Absorber or something?
Small renaming...

Re: Small renaming...
How about the Priest or Pope as it "converts" (another name lol Converter) your units to its faction. I always add it to the heavy nexus body and call it the Scorpion Priest
But hey i think you can go to the tex files and change it your self at least i think you can.

A map is a static display. Radar - Radio Direction And Ranging, a WWII technology - provides an active, real-time scan of the situation. Is it really that confusing?Emdek wrote:IFirst, why to not rename that radar view to mini map? Naming it "radar" is a bit confusing.

Maybe evangelist?Brisingr wrote:How about the Priest or Pope as it "converts" (another name lol Converter) your units to its faction. I always add it to the heavy nexus body and call it the Scorpion Priest![]()

Sure, but I'm thinking about overall consistency, not just local.Brisingr wrote:But hey i think you can go to the tex files and change it your self at least i think you can.
Sure, but in at least some languages both radar and sensor translates to the same thing, so it's confusing. Also already many people name it minimap.stiv wrote:A map is a static display. We call it "minimap" in the documentation. I can't remember anywhere it's still called "radar", except the source code, where it doesn't really matter.Emdek wrote:First, why to not rename that radar view to mini map? Naming it "radar" is a bit confusing.
Those are unclear. "Nexus Link" is clear enough. It is Nexus's signature attack, anyway. What's wrong with giving it a faction name?Emdek wrote:Second, maybe NEXUS Link turret could be renamed to something without faction name? It's used at least two times (one in option description).
Couldn't it be changed to be consistent, especially that it's used everywhere except these two strings?
It looks a bit strange in multi player games, couldn't be a bit more generic (maybe only in MP games?)?Zarel wrote:Those are unclear. "Nexus Link" is clear enough. Yes. But you'll have to tell me where those two places are, first. :/Emdek wrote:No, it matter.

It's lowercase. "Nexus Link". It's good enough. It links your opponent to the Nexus virus to take control of it. Simple enough. I don't think it's confusing at all.Emdek wrote:It looks a bit strange in multi player games, couldn't be a bit more generic (maybe only in MP games?)?

Re: Small renaming...
Nexus = a connection/link, confluence, hub, etc
Nexus isn't just a name in the game, it is a word.
Although Nexus link is somewhat redundant.
You could call it the Nexus turret, where a nexus is created between the two units, allowing you to control the unit.
It is an OK name if you haven't played campaign, and don't know what NEXUS is, and if you have played the campaign, well, then it is a very descriptive name.
