Maybe on the new credits screen. I'll have to make some adaptations, though - the current contrast of the muzzle flashes is still too high for a backdrop of a screen containing information, even though it looks artistically interesting as Rman pointed out.

What you can see in the first screenshot is my first try at making muzzle flash effects of any sort. I've adapted special effects intended for fire from 3dsMax to produce it - after all, muzzle flashes are flaming gases, aren't they? :hmm:

Unfortunately the light has to be set up manually, as I've mentioned before, so I have to coordinate both the properties and stage of the fire effect and the properties and stage of lighting effects (I've actually read half of a tutorial of how to set-up a fireplace and went making 3d-animated explosions: I like to come up with my own methods rather than sticking to a cookie-cutter-repetitive procedure).

But surely the muzzle flashes we'll produce for AR will have improved shapes and colors, those I've made were set up quick-and-dirty (sort of, actually quick-and-dirty 3d scenes are anything done in about an hour for me :P ) because I was eager to see what kind of result I could expect. It turned out to be fairly nice and I've posted it here to share the results

I didn't even try to render anything to use in-game, because as I've said, I've only recently dared to set my foot into 3d explosions (I've only worked with 3d ones before that, and they are much easier to work with :P

I'm glad you guys like it, thanks!

Olrox: Thank you for sharing all those details of your artist workshop experience. :) I can relate a little bit. Worked on 2 for hand-held weaps in my dig mini-movies and they were a PITA for me (caps of the 2 very different FX in the WS thread). The lighting set-ups were indeed critical and I found myself having to study the resultant, evolving, work frame by frame by frame, etc. because like you said, it is the result of gas heat / expansion, pressure / interaction, etc. over an instant of time. For me the ultra white relative contrast level, relative shape & duration were especially challenging. Painstaking work. Gave me headaches. But then again I really am not suited at all, temperamentally, to this type visual art. :augh:
