Cheaters online?
Is it possible that there are cheaters online?
It was a 4v4 game on the pit, one teammate rushed pink. Our teammate was building machinegun turrets along his base destroying structures. Then comes about 12 pink trucks and they started building limitless amounts of machinegun turrets, pushing our teammate off. By the time he was pushed out, pink had about 20+ machinegun turrets, then about 20 mins later he had more tanks than all of us combined (cobra half track light cannon). All this time, pink only had 4 oil derricks.
It's possible that his teammates were financing him but his teammates were using their power for themselves as I saw from the game.
They also had equal tech with us. I had control of 2 bases worth of oil because one of their enemies' left. I couldn't out produce pink even with more oil than that.
If you were in the game, you'd see the only way he could do this is through cheats. So how could he?

Pretty much nothing we can do about it, the way the code is currently written.
I suggest you only play with people you trust, if that is possible.
and it ends here.

They can't use cheat codes on a multiplayer game.
So how are they doing it?

Got rid of post due to request, I was thinking that maybe I shouldn't have in the first place.

Re: Cheaters online?
There are just too many ways to cheat. From trainers, or changing the source code, to messing with the packets.Anteep wrote:It happened again (someone called andres did it), are they memory hacking?
Like I said, there really isn't anything we can do about this, right now, since the source is open, as was mentioned.
If we move to a true server model, then we can fix some of this stuff, but not all the cheats.
There are people out there who will always find a way to cheat.
and it ends here.

Yeah, but we can kick them and their IP is then banned, right?Buginator wrote:There are just too many ways to cheat. From trainers, or changing the source code, to messing with the packets.Anteep wrote:It happened again (someone called andres did it), are they memory hacking?

You did not say if you were the host or not. If you join a game theres not anything you can do about it. If you were the host then simply block him using your firewall. Unfortunatly it may not have even been him. Some cheaters use other peoples name so you have to track people by IP. But be careful who you call a cheater. You said he had 4 oil. On The Pit there is 4 oil in base and 2 just out of base and 4 more in middle of map. His teammates also could have passed him tanks. I did not see andres cheat in my games. Did he cheat? Its your decision and your firewall.Anteep wrote:It happened again (someone called andres did it), are they memory hacking?

Sure, but I didn't make a permanent ban, because of dynamic IPs, and there would be no (easy) way to edit them.Olrox wrote: Yeah, but we can kick them and their IP is then banned, right?![]()

I have been hosting these games. In the game on the pit, the things he had at the time was undeniable proof of his cheating. He only had the 4 oil in his base. Andres was not the cheater on this game, or he was using a different name.BunkerBlaster wrote:You did not say if you were the host or not. If you join a game theres not anything you can do about it. On the other game though, it was ziggurat. 4v4, we had defeated 3 enemy players so it became a 4v1. At this point, it was obvious andres was cheating, he was continuously building defences, borgs, tanks and vtols with 8 oil derricks - we had taken over the rest of the map. His teammate was the first to realise this when he stated that andres had given him 98,000 power, but it was too late for them to fight back.
If you say andres is not a cheater, then perhaps someone was spoofing his name, from what I can gather he is spanish because he tried to speak spanish to me but soon realised I was English. He only speaks a small bit of English.

Interesting! I know that guy. I played with him one time, (he speaks spanish, that's why I remember him without a problem) And yes, it looks weird, in some play I had with him (2p-startup) He had tons of fortresses up, and like a hundred units, (there wasn't end to them)... The funny fact, is that he only had the 4 derricks that are on his base, and I had 8... and he managed to build tons of units and defences... for each good tank I made, he did 6, for each fortress I did, I found 3 of his...Anteep wrote:It happened again (someone called andres did it), are they memory hacking?
I just thought that was because he managed his resources better... But reading this and thinking about it...

Re: Cheaters online?
I can concur. I played with "andres" and he had multiple cannon fortresses up within 25 minutes or so. I, too, dismissed it as good researching. He and his ally used fortresses to destroy mine and my ally's bases by creeping cannon fortresses in.
He also managed about 100(?) Tiger Hover Scourge Missile tanks near the end when my ally and I fell back. (Our 4 Rocket Bastions were helpless)
His tank alloys were also good. (Our fully upg'd lancers didn't dent them) He reached auto-repair within 30-35 minutes.
