Well RTS games were not that big of an item back then everything was going into FPS's as it was WZ did get a lot of adds on Mplayer at the time, but other then that not much, the other thing was when it went retail my local Best Buy got 8 copies of the game 1 of them I had on pre-order, now you take a game like Diablo 2 they got over 100 copies on relase, and 2 weeks later it went on sale, WZ never had that kind of luck. Hell even Warcraft 3, C&C and Startcraft had tons of copies on hand, this was all about the camp and multiplayer 2nd, something else that lead to its downfall fast, granted you had many of players trying to keep it alive, but with in 9 months after release Pumpkin was shut down, and it was all up to the players to carry on and as you see some are still doing that.

Some people have trouble reading non-caps text on their screens.

Just saying.

can some one add the netiquette rules to the sign on for membership page... seems there are some that just don't grab the concept for some reason... that or their caps lock is stuck... i am thinking one reminder and then possible a one day "time out" followed by no further warnings... not banned but restricted to perhaps posting only once a week... seriously needs to be looked at. thanks :hmm:

Perhaps a slight thumbs up/thumbs down marker like on wowhead would be nice - using that as an discussion argument or in any way that can introduce potential bias could be considered a serious transgression, though. This way the member can evaluate whether or not he'd better be more zealous with his posts, before getting official warnings. I don't think that this would make people feel like "even though they do their best it's still not enough".
Just a thought, anyway :)

Rating systems discourage casual posting, and the heavily discourage "going against the group", since your posts will be evaluated. They're useful if your forum is extremely popular, but not for forums like ours. I think we've gone through this.

Why, instead of making a "casual post", saying just "yeah, I agree" or "I don't think so" the member could just evaluate the already existing post. The fact is that, you can make good casual posts or not. Bad, casual posts aren't useful in any way. I think we should encourage people to write more complete posts, in a more careful way (I, myself, would be more reluctant to express my anger if I had to worry about rating - you seem to disapprove when I express my anger at anyone - other than dragonflythecat -, don't you?).

I don't think anyone would care about duly rating really casual posts, anyway.

Unless I'm mistaken about what is a casual post :hmm:

We've got such a nice community, it's rare to see really bad people around, I think that the ratings could actually be a way of encouraging people to express what they think - they wouldn't need to write a whole post. Remember about what you said about having minor drawbacks for an overall greater advancement? I think that's a similar case.

The only way of knowing what definetely are the consequences if to test that - I also don't like the idea if making such experiments with the whole community, but I do believe that such system would help people to watch out for what they say. Unless we are mindstorming - then we could really mind if people think twice before posting.

EDIT:

Okay, then just add that to the account creation acknowledgements and change your own policy about this kind of thing - I really believe that people that make crappy posts don't even read the forum rules, let alone follow general guidelines. What I'm propposing would allow people to think about what they are doing before reaching the limits or being banned for a day or more.
