MMO warzone?
soo.. i had this idea last night. this will probably be rejected because it may take to much work, but i think if some how we could get this going it would be great.
an online game other than multiplayer.
you build a base(s), create factions, make enemys, fight online.
ways to fight wars would be 1v1-4v4 and any combination in there in "away maps". after 3 away fights that you win, you have the chance to attack your enemy's main base "the base you have created" of corse the people involved need to be online, no AI. to prevent your base from upgradeing your locked from building before the attack. and so forth.
ways to prevent cheating.
you cant research everything in a day
you can have 1 main base and 1 side base.
ranks will be shown online and in lobby, you cant challange someone who is more than 3 ranks than you "unless your invited to a skirmish"
so its like an MMO
i could see this game becoming something like this because of the great customization it has. it probably would be hard for legal reasons and such. all im saying is save this idea in a word doc so when someone on here becomes a multi millionare, we could own the game and create this idea as a side.

its not a fresh idea , but you right it will be rejected, cause of difficult implementation. But if you a programmer you can do it =). I would play a game like that
Death is the only way out... sh*t Happens !

Re: MMO warzone?
I think this idea is good... but instead of that idea of "attacking 3 away zones", maybe better some map made of partial maps (Like happens in campaign? A map is added to an existing one after a victory)
Also, this would make games take really long, or really short, depending on the players...
One thing that I disagree with is the idea of unabling players to research everything in one day... Maybe better slowing down the research rate, but some good players research fast for getting good weaponry, also, why you see unfair the idea of one player researching all in one day? After all, that player would be using his power resources for that, which means that player will have a smaller army...
Anyway, like Terminator said, this would be really hard to implement, so don't expect very much.

Re: MMO warzone?
The premise of an MMO RTS game is a good idea, but it's difficult to get working well. I have a few ideas, but I won't be implementing them now.
Adapting Warzone into an MMORTS is probably not a very good idea; the game really isn't designed for that to work at all. You'd have to change so much of it from scratch... it'd be easier to build a whole new game than modify this one.
So this is the usual:
1. If you want to do this yourself, sure, go ahead; it's a great idea.
2. If you want us to do this for you, sorry, we're too busy working on Warzone.

I've already came up with a project of a game that would be very similar to what you've propposed here. I'll work on it as soon as I can create a game company (you'll see some great things from it, I'll surely share those games with you all when I manage to assemble the company and direct them
).
It's a dream of mine and I'm all over into it, every single bit of my being wishes that with the deepest of feelings

well for one thing. i know with online stuff, you will have that one player who will stay up for 48 hours in a row, research everything, max out his energy and create a base that is infact impossable to destroy.Saberuneko wrote:One thing that I disagree with is the idea of unabling players to research everything in one day... limiting the reseach rate so it could take hours to research than just seconds may be a better idea.

If he stays up 48 hours, he deserves this result as outcome of his dedication on the gameplay...MeatShield wrote:you will have that one player who will stay up for 48 hours in a row, research everything, max out his energy and create a base that is infact impossable to destroy.
Ah! And now I remember... He would only need arround 2~3 hours for doing that, (I did myself one day)

yeah but, some of us have jobs and such we need to take care of, we dont want someone to over power the game because they dont have a job and have time to do this.Saberuneko wrote:If he stays up 48 hours, he deserves this result as outcome of his dedication on the gameplay...MeatShield wrote:you will have that one player who will stay up for 48 hours in a row, research everything, max out his energy and create a base that is infact impossable to destroy.

btw im going to set up this project, its going to be hard since i dont know how to code, but i am a good project manager. if anyone is willing to support this project hit me up.

Why not, that is the way it is done in the campaign? You can only research as much as you find artifacts.Saberuneko wrote:One thing that I disagree with is the idea of unabling players to research everything in one day... I agree that other one idea. You can progress searching for artifacts... That means that if you want to, you have to make a bigger effort for getting the tech, but not being disabled to get it.macuser wrote:Why not, that is the way it is done in the campaign?
