Received phishing emails lately?
In the last two weeks, I received a number of phishing emails sent to the address I used to register here. Since this is a dummy address specifically for forum use, it does not bother me much. But I try to trace back how they got at it anyway. Therefore my question: Has anyone received the same phishing emails as me? Two were asking for assistance in a multi-million Dollar transaction, one claimed I had won a lottery run by Visa in conjunction with MSN and one claimed a british bank needed me to confirm my bank account data for a multi-million dollar payment. This is nothing personal, I ask this on all boards were I used the same email address as here.

Would be interesting if anyone else got this, but as you stated you also use your mail on another site. I just checked a few things and can say that there is no way to expose your E-Mail in our forums/Trac, unless you explicitly want to.

A lot of spam addresses are not harvested but generated, like
aaaaa@somewhere
aaaab@somewhere
aaaac@somewhere
Eventually, they create some valid addresses and since the cost of sending an individual spam is essentially zero, this isn't as stupid as it first sounds.
