...remember the time Dragonfly the Cat got all up in my grill about my perfectly non-experimental balance changes?

...yeah, that's why.

I might do some testing in future alpha releases, but no experimenting in betas.

Man, are you gonna let that <insert really bad things> let you down? Betas are nice when they're used to try new balancing, because feedback is *much* more abundant than trunk releases. It's really sad that a single dickhead managed to screw with a great deal of the transparency of the project :(

You know that there's a huge lack of reasoning in his posts. But I understand that it should be really hard to try something new and see everyone getting upset in an exaggerated way. People should really learn that a beta is still a test version, and if they want the best versions, they should go for the standard releases...

I won't try to persuade you to change your mind, but I feel really sorry for that.

I'm not saying it was him personally. Just that users in general expect some greater level of stability in betas that preclude pushing experimental balance changes in. It's not something I normally do, either; I was just in a rush to finish balancing in time for beta 11a, so I pushed something less well-tested than what I normally do in betas. You guys had the fun of messing around with an overpowered weapon exactly once, but if you liked it, there's always flaTE. ;)

The balancing seems to be better now, (rockets being crippled is a good thing) except for the still overpowered bomber VTOLS and the HPV cannon, due to it being a bit too good for aa. :)
