Art Revolution: Questions

Post by theArmourer »

Specificly, are the new models going to be included in a future version of warzone?

Sorry if this has already been discussed.

I believe that is the plan... trunk looks just too crappy with the old models.
and it ends here.

It's still too uncertain, as we are working on our own with AR (we're not staff from the project, our work can be considered "parallel" as it is ATM) - with the help of the members of staff with our questions, of course. The dev-team was receptive with our initiative to make new models, and we are trying to meet with their requirements of quality & style. Not because we definetely want the models to be in the core game, we actually would really be glad if they were, but we trust the members of the project regarding to knowledge about Warzone and taste of style overall.

It really depends on the outcome of our AR project. Even though we are trying our best, we don't know if they'll meet the series of requirements for them to replace the original models.

Probably it'll take quite some time for anyone to see a complete version of AR, as we are very limited in personnel and time, adding to the fact that we are really fussy about quality. We won't release something we don't completely approve or the community doesn't like, anyway.

I hope this was insightful :)

Hi Olrox and thanks for your reply.

I'm very new here and sorry for some questions that may have answers lying about.

Is there a project page for this Art Revolution project? Previews etc?

Is there any deadline, schedule?

---

Also, aiming to remake *all* of the models in order for it to be included with trunk, for me, could make it harder for the project to finish.

I think that the models hardly can have such a different style than the original models, that average users would prefer only original models to a mix of remaked and original ones.

Because, as we all know, the models are a bit 1990. Which, in turn, is evident because the game was first made in the 90's.

I'd say, make a plan on the models whose remake is prio-1, and then aim to do that in (deadline here). Then, go from there.

This may be better for the community as a whole, and for the project to finish quicker as you will get tons of positive feedback, encouraging you and future contributors to keep it going.

Note that my intention is not to intrude on your integrity - this is only what I've experienced as good practices in the past.

Currently most of our progress is contained in this topic, which starts with Mangust's models only. If I remember right, I've started to contribute around page 6.

We plan on making a more organized topic, with indexed screenshots and version updates, so that the first page provides all the necessary info to know the stage of development.

We are currently aiming for finishing all the body models first, and then going for other vehicle-related models. Colditz is working on base structure models, at his own pace - me and Mangust won't go making models for those before we're finished with vehicles, and I belive that Colditz will have at least plenty of them already by this time.

We won't stabilish dates for releasing, as we can't afford to put this on a high priority - our RL is.

I took no offense with your questions, you're ok.

I'm beginning to be frustrated with the lack of anything complete, though.

If we do release improved models in smaller "blocks", I think that would be best. As I believe I've said quite a few times, let's remake Dragon first, get that committed (we kind of need it in 2.3...) and go from there.
