I've been playing WZ since 2004, but I just starting to play online today. I go by the name "Doppel" online and wow, I lose in 30 minutes.
Any tips for online play? I usually build lots of cheap vehicles with rockets/MGs/HPVs on them and the enemy rushes with HPV+Phyton+Hover a lot. :/

I suggest you learn which weapons are best against which vehicle types and learn to balance unit strength with production speed. E.G. machine guns do extra damage against wheels, as do flamers.
