Ideas for a new cannon class

Well, they were never mass produced because those were specialist weapons designed for urban warfare.

If we take into account historical practicality we should take out a bunch of units and weapons from the game, starting from flamers and minirockets.

I just want to make clread that I'm not looking for superweapons but rather an antibuilding weapon halfway between bunker buster and flamers.

I know artillery comes in that role too but the advantage of not being exposed to CB fire gives a bit more flexibility imho.

Flamers are really useless anyway haha.

Yeah, of course they are. Esp. when the enemy decides to swarm your base with heavy gunners :cool:

For attacking I meant. But I hardly ever use them for defence either, MG kills off cyborgs well enough for me.

Flamer is better, it also helps if you get invaded by cannon tanks or lancer tanks (as long as they're not on hover, in which case it's pretty hard to catch them.

Not having a CB radar target you isn't worth much if you're on the front line getting hit by everything anyway.

It's certainly true that all specialized weapons have serious problems competing in skirmish.

I guess my point is that, since you're proposing adding another one, I'd like to be convinced it will ever be used.

Ok, think of maps like bananas, where lots of actions is in relatively small spaces.
You get near the enemy base entrance and you face a barrage of lancer towers backed up by a CB sensor and various arty.

- If you send BB they get wasted in no time

- If you send flamers they last a little longer but eventually they don't have the HP to sustain much punishment either and need to get very close

- If you try busting your way with arty CB will give you serious pain.

The only alternative left is heavy cannon tanks which are able to slug it out but then unless you're facing an incompetent player they will be weakened enough to be of little usefulness against a counterattack.

A specialized breakthrough unit that has enough HP to absorb the first defensive barrage can open up a breach that can be exploited by faster units or be backed up by other specialists like BB to finish off fortifications without crippling your main assault force in the likely following counterattack. All in all, an "anvil" weapon if you want.

Hmm. Can't you just send some hover heavy cannon tanks + a couple of bunkers busters, to break a hole (hover heavy cannons take some artillary and the first round or two of lancer fire, while the bunker busters break the place open). Then, hover heavy cannon tanks rush the enemy base, straight to the centre. I guess it depends exactly on the situation, what exactly you would need to do, but this rough outline should roughly counter your defensive suggestion (Lancers + CB tower).

Enemy counterattack - They should come up against a similarly hard resistance at your side!
Full of ideas - Most are probably useless. Feel free to ignore them :)

The New CAnnon must Fire 2 Cannos and then load..than fire ....
or a New Idea:
Heavy Canno with MG / Cybog Lancer/Mini Pod Rockets
