Vehicle Sensor/Super Heavy bodies

Post by 3drts »

Anyone remember campaign, getting shot from direct fire units you can't see?
Nexus had much better standard sensors on its units.

A while back, someone was advocating something special for the wyvern heavy body, since dragon had twin turrets (a form of stealth I beleive he advocated)
Why not give it a higher standard sensor range? such that it can use long range (ie: 2048) weapons at maximum range.

How about just giving nexus bodies higher standard sensor ranges?

Or a later game sensor range upgrade for standard vehicle sensors?
Late game sensor upgrade for standard defensive structures?

Isn't the std sensor range 12 now? maybe mk 1-3 std sensor UGs can increase it 1 tile each, to 15?
Make them available when WSS turret becomes available maybe?

Well…it wouldn’t be fair to make the sensors any longer, since the artillery can just hide behind lines of walls. The sensors should be somewhat relatively close to the target its picking out for the artillery to attack, so players have a chance to go out and destroy the sensors. I don’t think there can be bonuses for turrets depending on what body its put on.

There are sensor upgrades, and the sensor towers have an even longer range than its turret counter part. Then again, the tower is an unmovable object. Poor thing, it can only sit there spinning its head around looking at things fondly.

On the subject for doing something special with the wyvern body, I think something could be done. Once the dragon body is achieved, people can just make one of those with two turrets as you said, expensive, but its boss. It probably over shadows the wyvern. You are onto something though. What would be interesting is if the wyvern had perhaps higher thermal armor then the dragon, and matched with its kinetic armor. It (wyvern) will still have lower hit points, sure, but once the dragon puts on two weapons, it gains a lot of attack, and hit points from having two turrets. But…we don’t want to overshadow all the other bodies.

Maybe the wyvern is fine just as it is?

Or here’s another take. Forget I said all that:
Since the dragon can have two turrets on an already big and slow body, both the weights combined from the weapons would make it even slower. As it is, the wyvern is like, an upgrade from the Tiger body, its just another slow brick wall. So, does the dragon and the wyvern make the Tiger redundant? But yet, the vengeance body already does that to the Tiger, so why even speak of it?

For one, the Tiger is cheaper. perhaps the same context could be applied to the wyvern? While it is cheaper…is the cheapness worth it in contrast to a more expensive tank that can handle two turrets?

So annoying. :|

Doesn't make sense for it to have either.

Long-range weapons are only limited by visibility now, anyway, they're no longer limited by sensor range (with the exception of artillery).

Would make some sense, but would be pretty hard to implement.

Sensor upgrades apply to all sensors, including vehicles and structures.

Standard sensor range is 8. Sensor upgrades increase that to 10, 11.2, and 12, respectively.
