Campaign Help
I'm having trouble beating a particular Alpha campaign mission, it's the one after you defend against the New Paradigm counterattack after establishing a forward base and getting the cyborg factory. I have to airlift some troops to another location and use them to stop any New Paradigm forces from escaping. As soon as I get near their landing site, the damn transport takes off, I can't stop it and I lose. Anyone know how I'm supposed to beat this one?

You are supposed to be faster...eridor0 wrote:I'm having trouble beating a particular Alpha campaign mission, it's the one after you defend against the New Paradigm counterattack after establishing a forward base and getting the cyborg factory. I always cheat that mission. It's faster.

Re: Campaign Help
Go down into the canyon and hang a left. Kill all the tanks and take the artifact for heavy cannon. You should have more tanks on the way and your truck building a repair station. You have to go to the canyon immediately after landing because the enemy tanks are going to their LZ and if you don't stop them in the canyon they will get away. If you put the game on mist fog you'll be able to see the canyon easier. Do not stop to fight the scavengers. You can kill them later. If you go quick enough you can sometimes kill the tanks before they get the artifact. I usually am right on their butt all the way to the artifact.

I was destroying the scavenger bases, that's why. Thanks for the help.

Also, if your units are strong enough they will take out most of the scavs on the way through... But if you are having trouble, read the guide by themousemaster. His guide is excellent for getting through the campaign fairly rapidly.

Especially the Void between the ears of people who think that No VTOL is a good idea, and won't lead to arty wars. I've won one, and I have to say: I hated it.

Re: Campaign Help
The NP don't start with the artifact? They have to pick it up first?
I didn't know that.

Great, you trying to guilt-trip me into actually finishing it?Assault Gunner wrote:Also, if your units are strong enough they will take out most of the scavs on the way through... Good news though: my campaign in Hearts of Iron 3 is over, and with a new patch for that game coming out in a few weeks, I won't be starting a new one, freeing up some time for guide writing

Nope. Actually, when did I say I was waiting on you to finish it? However, another point I should add is that the strategies you give in that guide are useful throughout the game, so that you can finish it even without reading the guide the whole way through.

The tactics are whole-game goodness perhaps... the strategies may not be, though, since what Nexus is capable of doing in grand-scale (unit conversion and LASSATing) isn't something you can beat with "push and retreat" maneuversAssault Gunner wrote:Nope. Re: Campaign Help
Yes, but for the majority of the campaign, push and retreat works exceedingly well.

Sorry, I was just being a grammar-bastard about the difference between "strategy" and "tactic". I'll stop nowAssault Gunner wrote:Yes, but for the majority of the campaign, push and retreat works exceedingly well.
