For single player campaign, how does the difficulty setting (in options) affect things?
I seem to remember seeing somewhere that it just affects the hitpoint level of enemy units, but by how much?

0.8/1.2, 1.0/1.0, 1.2/0.8
are the respective damage-taken/damage-dealt modifiers on easy, medium, and hard, respectively.
0.5/1.0, 0.001/9.999 are the damage-taken/damage-dealt modifiers on the "double up" and "biffer baker" cheats, respectively, in case you cared about that. It makes "biffer baker" really nice for campaign testing, since you just breeze through the entire thing (and you can actually survive Scourge hits.

Thanks for the answer. So the easy setting is just a moderate bit easier, and not dramatically so.Zarel wrote:0.8/1.2, 1.0/1.0, 1.2/0.8

I can see how biffer baker would let you cruise through the campaign.

Actually, 0.8:1.2 vs 1.0:1.0 is a big difference -> your units are 50% stronger than the enemy.
Then factor in unit experience (I assume the units you face in campaign are new units without any kills? or do you sometimes face veteran/professsional, etc troops?)
By mid beta, if you kept your forces relatively small (I try to stay under 40 combat units: ideally 39 units with experience, and 1 commander) - your units should be mostly Veteran skill level, and you should have a special/hero commander.
With a special commander, all units take -0.42% damage.
so of medium 1:1 becomes 0.58:1.0 due to experience
*(side note: in campaign I have a lot of "bugs" that have been around since 1.0 relating to commander rank, it seems to go up prematurely, then it goes back down next mission or on a reload, but sometimes its back "up" again - going through campaign again: Im in beta and my commander alternates between hero and special, but he's soon to be hero permenantly

Hell, at that number, you can survive LASSAT hits.
It wouldn't surprise me if BETA base survived it's nuking.
