Yeah, it'd be our little secret! :ninja:
xD

I Also agree with zarel that the background map should have water - it makes it more obvious that it's a terrain sector with that, I think.

I'm open to suggestions. But also think that no one will get a magnifier to inspect the background map and think "OMG, it's The Lost River! Olrox, that bastard...": and even if someone did, what's the big deal?
I think a great deal of my map and love its topography. It has 74% approvation already and I didn't even release a beta O_o
That's wouldn't be possible without flaME, I'd never make maps on EW anyway.

BTW, I didn't hear what Flail13 himself got to say about the icons. I must wait for his opinion, after all, those are for his creation. I might make a background with 8c-Mischief if he doesnt't approve this one.

I'll work on more beautiful effects later, I'm with lack of inspiration right now :P

I was partly serious, and partly joking, that is why I did " ;) heh" (you know, I got to stop doing this, seems I am taken far too seriously than I should be. Look at the slider position thread. :...: )
Pick whatever name you want, don't think that since I mentioned that name, that it means you must use it.

What, you weren't serious about the smiley slider?!!11!!?! O_O
xD

Okay, I thought about a really interesting function, would make life easier for those willing to make really balanced bases.

"Paste to player"!
It would change every object that was selected+copied (with the paste units selected, of course) to the specified player!
Wouldn't that be great? Then, adjusting the objects would be already easy with the m>move to location command. Making balanced advanced bases could be a flash with this.
Hope you like the idea & it doesn't represent too much work if you do.

BTW, I've retouched the large flaME icon a bit, with some lighting effects and other minor ones. I like it much better than the older one ;)

The border of the "flame" seems a bit wrong... this is generally what happens if you freehand with a mouse at normal zoom. I think using a pen tool would help, or alternatively use a higher zoomlevel for freehanding. In fact, unless you're doing pixel art, freehanding is a pretty bad idea in general...

Hmmmmmm...
So that's what the pen tool is...
I've never used it to create vector masks :stressed: :stressed:
My god, I feel stupid :stare:
Well, here's yet another version, this time I've used the right tool (it was the first time I've used vector masks so I don't think it's the best I can do yet)
flaME large.png
I was about to complain "I don't have Corel Draw", but that hits the spot.
I really should invest some money on a PS course. Or at least hit some tutorials...
(My god, I feel stupid :stare: )
I'm not completely pleased with the leftmost curve yet
Should I try to make it better?

This map editor keeps getting better and very stable each release, i neverminded that a simple, stable and friendlier program could be released.

Before it's release, i tried to figure myself with the EW, but i sucked a lot :gonk:, i don't understood that map editor and was unstable :|

Now i have 2 friendly programs: One for GFX, called "PIE Slicer", and now, the map editor, called "flaME"

Sooner, i'll post my first map, will be included too in the WZ2120 Mod

Keep up with the great work Flail13

Can you incorporate height-setting edge brushes? You have edge brushes, and you have height setting, just include an option in auto-texture to set height :P

Also, the auto-cliff tool is very very helpful, but it doesn't seem to make use of the corner tiles properly 100% of the time.

(I know I'm not Flail13, but already spent quite some time on flaME already)
Just a thought, you're using "Set Triangles" very often, right? I guess you do since you seem to pay great attention to your maps, just to be sure.

Well, also make sure that all of the corners of the tile but the one on the extreme side of the cliff are set to an adequate auto-texture, and the extreme one is set either to the same texture or another one that fits the cliff texture transitions.

Another possible issue is with the angle - make sure that three of the vertexes of the cliff tile are in a similar height , and the other one provides enough angle with all of the other vertexes.

By keeping an eye on those things I hardly ever have issues with auto-cliff.

Hmm, maybe you are referring to the corner cliff ends on ramps?

1.01 is uploaded. it has some small changes, including the option to export with campaign info, and height-setting with the autotexture tool.

.

Placing Objects only shows on the Mini-Map - not the main work panel. You can grab them from the drop down menus, see the GFX as you bring it over to place with your mouse but it doesn't stick to the terrain.... but the mini-map indicates placement ! O_o

- RV

EDIT: Saved & closed the map. Re-opened and all the Objects placed that I couldn't see sticking appeared ! Had to delete a bunch. Then I tested to see if placing Objects would now stick and be visible and they did ! Weird. It seems to be working normal now.

Maybe experienced a temporary hoo-do vodoo on my LT. O_o

I may probably be wrong, but you didn't hit F7 and forget about it, did you?
Well, good to know that the crashes for placing objects isn't global. I'm downloading 1.01 to test right now.

Since you released your map editor, everyone started making maps.

People make them and save them.
Problem is in file name.
They save it and call it "<mapname>.wz"
There is no 2c-/4c-/8-c.

I suggest you to make your editor first ask for map name, then for number of players, and then finally ask where to save them.

I get pretty much the same, but in different language (no english though). I'll try to translate it a bit later..

Edit: I translated my error. It also happends sometimes when watching complete map opened in editor. It might be a bit sloppy, Im not quite familliar with tech phrases, but I hope this will do:

Code: Select all
