Connection failed (multiplayer-mode)

Post by Janus »

Hello Guys
At first I want to say sorry for my english. I come from germany. :D Ok . Here is the problem: I want to play WZ with some guys via Internet. The game startet, we tried to connect to the lobby. But when I want to connect it just says Connection failed. It don`t refresh the list.We already looked for a solution in the Internet -nothing to find. The singelplayer still run`s fine.We have the same version so thats not the problem we think.
Next: We switched the whole firewall off, forwarded ports 2100, 9990, 9999, and activated UPnP.
.We also tested running the game in compatibility mode for Win 2000, 98 and 95.-nothing. :stare: I have windows XP service Pack 3.We also de- and reinstalled the game for a few times. Problem`s the same.I used the search function in this forum, but found no solution to my problem. Pls help me i want to play this nice game. Greezt from Germany :P

No need to run in compatibility mode. 2.3 Beta 10 works just fine in XP/vista/win 7.
For your problem, while the (software) firewall may be off, what about your router?
If your router supports UPnP, then the ports should be opened automagically.
If not, then you need to do it by hand.

What kind of a router / modem you got?
and it ends here.

We already tried forwarding ports 2100, 9990, 9999 on his router, and we also activated UPnP, as Janus said in his original post (I´m one of the friends he wants to play with). I think it´s just one option activated, situated somewhere in the router options....Because another friend of us also uses Win XP and he didn´t have to do anything to play online, and it seems there are some other programs which also can´t connect to the Internet, like the BioShock AutoUpdater, or TeamViewer...
I´m not really adept at such things :|

Hi. I may not give the final solution but yet...

Please note that only the coputer that's hosting the game must forward the ports or enable UPnP: Joining rooms doesn't require making such things. I'm experiencing a similar problem, but I think that it's due to the internet provider (which changed), it may be blocking the lobby from connecting to my PC (I think).
When I've changed the provider, a new modem was installed, but I've already forwarded the ports and activated UPnP as well. Forwarded the ports following every single step from postforward.com for the modem / wireless router.

I gave this problem a few minutes and then ran out of patience (I wass really like " :mad; " at the time), I'll give it more tries and get back here if I manage to find a solution.

if those other programs don't work as well then it points to a router configuration error

do --debug net and post your stderr.txt and we can see what the game is doing.

example, if your shorcut says "c:\program files\warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" Change it to:

"c:\program files\warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" --debug net
and it ends here.

"The socket is marked as non-blocking (non-blocking operation mode), and the requested operation is not complete at this time. This is a temporary condition and later calls to the same routine might complete normally."

So something is blocking... what, I dunno, but it isn't warzone.
Could be firewall / router / antivirus / ???
and it ends here.
