Random Mod Idea

Post by DraLUSAD »

If i could develop a mod, and maps, and had one on test, it would sound like this

NS (Naval series) mod pack Alpha release

Structures added:
  • Naval Dock: Allows the production of ships
Hardpoint defence can also be constructed on water
Polpultion Added:
  • Ship design Popultion added: Able to design ships
    Hovor popultion removed
Body Added:
  • Very Heavy Naval Body: adds two gun hard points on either side and acts like a cruiser/battleship
Unit research Added:
  • Naval Transport: Able to transport 10 units at a time (has the same value as the transport in Campaign)
Several different subs added, Attack Sub with verius weapons, and serfable subs, that can attack at verius ranges
Sorry for bad spelling... but the question is... would this idea work (Thats if i could mod that is :-S)
Back and working on more maps than before.

No.

There already is Naval propulsion, you just can't make them...

Possible...

Transport maybe, submarines aren't possible.

I don't like it... and, adding ships isn't for removing hovers... (I want Hovers and Naval both in!)

Defences in water? JUST NO! make the player think how to strategically set defences on ground for defending the sea...

I would think that the fact that your thread title contains the world "idea" would be a hint that the right forum for this topic was "Ideas and Suggestions", not "Showcase".

No Naval Units. This is a tank battle game, with Air Support thrown in, why is it 10 years after release people still want a navy, first off the scale would be way off, put a tank against a Battle ship or Aircraft Carrier and you will see that they are tiny. Now a ships body would need to be 15-20 tiles long and at lest 3-4 tiles wide, and that cant be done. Oh and I wont go on anymore because if I said things like I used to about this issue it would not be nice.

Hmm... I understand... But some 1 squared size attack naval units? Why not?

I like the idea of a naval dock... If Naval units get implemented it would make sense to have a specialized structure that makes them.

Also, who says that the Naval units have to be to scale with reality? The light bodies are more like buggies than anything, rather than a tank. Of course, given the weapons you stick on them, they are pretty much buggies/ Humvees.

Also, I know of several fast attack craft existent in real life far smaller than tanks. I see no reason that WZ couldn't have some of those.

Besides, Naval units would be limited to maps with large amounts of water.

However, to make them useful, they would have to have fairly heavy armour.

Finally, I like the idea of Naval transports. Would have to be fairly slow though, and big.

Surely if your worried about scale, the Cyborg Transport should be the big issue, you couldn't fit that many cyborgs of that size into a craft that size.

just the devils  advocate here .... littoral navy. dont need to be huge to be lethal. and to add to the code base - add a single vtol landing pad to the rear of the (ship) naval platform. just saying... dont be hateing. xD

Hmm... Littoral VTOL carriers constructed at a Naval Dockyard... Methinks I like this idea. A lot. It would much decrease flight time for VTOLs, allowing for more frequent flights without risk to the carrier unit. Sort of like modern aircraft carriers.

Besides which, extensively water-based maps(e.g, maps without or with very limited land routes between bases) would be interesting with the ability to load up a tank transport and drop some tracks tanks off at your opponent's base.

By the way, I think that it would be interesting to give the transports "slots". Units with certain body types would take a certain number of slots, say cyborg=1 slot, light=2 slots, medium=3 slots, heavy= 4 slots, and super-heavy= 5 slots.

Also, you could have different transport sizes, say a light transport with 4 slots, a medium with 7, and a heavy with 10. Obviously, cost would be proportional to number of slots. I doubt it could work with current coding, just a suggestion. I suppose it could be achieved by simply increasing the units/total that can be carried by an equivalent amount.
