Stable Version Does Not Run

Post by Des »

Hello,

I tried downloading and running the latest stable version: Stable / 2.2.4 / 2009-10-11.

What happens is it tries to open, changes screen resolutions and goes to a black screen, then it just pops back out of it back to my desktop at my original resolution.

I am running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3. I have 3.2 ghz 1 gig of RAM and a Mobility 10 (Radeon 9600) graphics card with the latest drivers.

I ran a search on here to fix this myself. I tried changing my resolution from 1280x1024 to 800x600. Still nothing.

I tried running in capability mode for Windows 98, Me, 2000...nothing.

I tried debugging by running "smd" and getting to the directory, but had problems doing that.

Anybody have a solution?

Besides what crux said, you can also do --debug all and post your stderr.txt file.
Also try --window.

These kinds of issues you are having is usually video driver related, and in your case, you should check ATI.com for updates. (I know you said you have latest drivers, but I don't know where you got those. The ones on windows update are usually old...)
and it ends here.
