Zarel's Map and Mod uploader!
We will eventually have an official map and mod database!
Right now, we don't have enough mods.
You guys can help, though!
Submit your maps and mods here:
http://guide.wz2100.net/addons/index.php?p=submit
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE include map previews and screenshots!
Before submitting, make sure that:
Multiplay mods are named: modname.mod.wz
Campaign mods are named: modname.cam.wz
Global mods are named: modname.gmod.wz

This is great!
You should add another tab at top for that database. As well for lobby...
How do we view uploads?

will give a list of addons that you have uploaded (you can edit them, etc).
You can't view and download addons other people have uploaded yet, but I'll add it soon.

Right now, it's just by IPs. The next time I get the chance to talk to Kamaze, I'll try to hook it into the phpBB/Trac login system.

In that case, I won't upload more mods until you do that.Zarel wrote:Right now, it's just by IPs. The next time I get the chance to talk to Kamaze, I'll try to hook it into the phpBB/Trac login system.
But it will be great!
What about my Map Collection?

Okay, I have a basic list here:Zarel wrote:You can't view and download addons other people have uploaded yet, but I'll add it soon.

I'll work on making it more fancy later today.

You can upload each map individually. You can't upload the whole collection, though.

I'll stay away from it.Zarel wrote:You can upload each map individually.
Looks good enough. It just needs pages, more sorting, search box.....Zarel wrote:I'll work on making it more fancy later today.
In what language is it written it?
Could you maybe release its source?

Note that this is only for maps with proper licensing, ie they are your maps, or the author has given permission to use it under the specified license.KukY wrote:What about my Map Collection?

I redesigned it a bit. More pages will come when there are enough maps/mods there to warrant it.
Search box... yeah, I'll add that later.
It's written in PHP.KukY wrote:In what language is it written it?

I'll release its source when it's finished, and on its on page at addons.wz2100.net.

Re: Zarel's Map and Mod uploader!
Hey, it looks nice. I'm wondering if it'll work only for final versions or if the files can be changed at any given time.
Also, adding classification to the maps would be nice: Make the uploaders select 2c/4c/8c and terrain set while uploading, what do you think? Would make it much easier to search for more specific maps later-on (when there's a lot of maps).
But hey, it's a great idea & initiative! A repository makes things much easier for those looking for new stuff.

You haven't submitted a single map or mod - how do you know we don't already have these features?Olrox wrote:Hey, it looks nice. I'm wondering if it'll work only for final versions or if the files can be changed at any given time.

(Hint: We already do. Every single one. Yes, the files can be changed at any time, although each change will need to be reapproved.)

This will be a terrific boon all around, no doubt. It will inspire many over time and be a force in growing the fan base as well, I believe.
Will you have a field for gamers to come back after downloading and comment (perhaps even rate) the mod or map after they have experienced it ? Share their thoughts. Something like what Amazon customers do after purchases.
A meritorious effort - to go along with your many others on behalf of the game and its community.
Cheers, RV

Re: Zarel's Map and Mod uploader!
I've looked at the page, and didn't find any way to "filter" the maps by those qualities. But if it's planned (as I thought they'd be), then just go on with the good work, as always!Zarel wrote: You haven't submitted a single map or mod - how do you know we don't already have these features?
