Question: Do ai's know their allies

I was just thinking about how the AI's interact do they know they have allies or do they not shoot at them the end?
Do they know their allies research do they work together?

The AIs (I can only speak for default AIs) will cooperate on research, attacks and defense. They communicate with each other with chat message, and you can talk to allied AIs as well, telling them eg "help me" with a radar beacon to get help.

Human Interacting with them yes the human does not research the same items i was more thinking how they interact with each other.
After playing against 6 ai/s teamed together one had huge army while I mangled the base next door it did not come to help its ally.

Yeah, the cooperating/attacking/defending behaviour is pretty faulty. I have not gotten that far yet in my overhaul of the AI code
