Co-op Campaign

Hi all,

first of all sorry for my bad english.


My idea is having the option coop misson in the multyplayer menu, cause im realy in to coop games.

I gues it will be hard to code this feature cause warzone wasn´t ment to bee a coop singleplayer game but it would be awesome.

what do you guys think about it?

By the way thx to all guys who work on this game its soo cool that you bbrought it back to live cause the game has still fetures newer games sould have a look to.

I guess a new campaign would have to be created though.

We already have a cooperative mode, it's called Locked Teams. o_O

Just make it you against the AI (i.e. comp stomp) and you'll be fine...

Yes kind of, but its not what i was talking about.

Let me descripe it mor detailed.

Ok i would like to play the singleplayer missions with my frinds. So we could play all warezone missons with more players then just me. Im not talking about the normal skirmish game where you chouse a map and play that map with friends against the ai, im talking about the real singleplayer missions. It would not be nessesery to have two bases for to players you also could controll the singleplayer units by more then one pc.

There is work on Lua, when it is finished that will be possible.

The Idea is good, but we have some Problemes:
  • Only 3 Player are possible (Green, Blue and Red)
  • How can we set this colors to the Players so that only they can use these colors and not the others?
  • How can we make this with the Transporters?
The AI, we can take it from the campain, the Maps too, but we have to edit this.

Mhh....
But there isn´t aneed to have divrend colors, i gues ....
Let´s say the green colored units can be controlled by divrend players
So you only have One Player(Green) controlled by 2 or 4 or 8 Humens

I have some code experience but still cant imagen how mutch work it would be to have the multyplayer conection stuff in the singleplayer mode....

I hope and pray some of the developers think about this idea cause its awesome to play missions of a game with friends.

Four, actually. You forgot magenta.

Also, those are all trivial problems to solve (seriously, not letting players use yellow/gray/black/cyan isn't exactly the hardest comp sci problem I've had to solve today). There are far worse problems, such as saving (currently quite difficult) and the fact that a lot of our multiplayer code is skirmish-only...

So dose that meen you are allredy try to figure out how mutch work it would be to implementate?

If i could help you in some code let me know, i have experince in lot of programming lanuages but in all i only sratcht at the surface (sadly)

Hi,

First, i'm sorry for my broken english.
Then, I had the same idea as Master Jochen.

Like in Red Alert 3 or Halo Wars it should be very interesting if we could play the campaign with another player. But the second player should be a secondary player (so two players only).
I mean the requiert condition to win a mission is still depends on the main player.
The secondary player just assists the main one.
For example, It could resolve the problem of the Transporter => Main player does the mission while secondary player is managing the base.

I try to give some ideas...

Another idea is to make short mission instead of modifying campaign mode.
A coop mode with some cooperative mission (2 players for example) with short objectives (like build a base (20 min of non-attack) and defend it during 15 min against massive attacks)

You say they are too wimpy to do it? LOL even though it would give the game a second life.
I'd love to do coop campaign with my GF.I am all for designing new campaign for this! this means making maps biggers so why not?

Now that would be awesome, playing the original campaign, but with a secondary team (different color) which means they both work together, but the host can build and produce new units and research, whiles the second player can only produce new units, and build derricks and base defenses, now this i would love to see

Hmm... Having played Halo Wars co-op campaign... I like this idea! It fits the idea perfectly, and has been proven to be balanced. In essence, all it does is give you more control over the units, so I think it's great.
