Hello Q-Necron :c) I really like the modifications that you are working on. It really compliments this game :D

I do agree that the mouse-over could me significantly more subtle - like a 50% filter on the green you're using. It would better retain the contrast of the text.

Also the 'Download' button could be simplified to just say 'Download WarZone 2100' or 'Download Now' - as such would probably reduce maintenance of the web page - with every update version to be precise ^_^

Great work. I do like the top tabs btw. ^_^

Zarel wrote: I don't think "more blue" will be enough. Consider the difference between current and hover tab on the Guide: http://guide.wz2100.net/ That's what I meant by "integrate the bar below it"
I second that. I think that if the page´s background is white, for example, the active tab should be integrated & also white (just like real paper folders of an archive), the unactive ones should be slightly darker and separated by a thin border, which outlines the "paper folder" shape. The hover effect should make the tabs further darker (not too much), intuitively making one think "that is going down, mybe I should press it a bit more" ;)
Then the click effect could make it pretty much evidently darker, for good visual feedback on you pressing the tab.

But by all means, mantain the relief effects, they make me want to click your tabs xD

Small update to http://necrons.game-server.cc/warzone/ .

- Added in the stripes that where on the WIPs below the header*.
- Added small lightning effect under the active button.
- Toned the green Download button way down.
- Changed the Features and About button hovers to a light blue.
- Small tweaks in the CSS to incorporate Base/Hover/Active tabs for main menu.

*In doing this making the tabs blend in the with the white is almost impossible O_O , I can't believe I didn't have them on there for the updated version.

Small changes will occur here and there as I have time to tweak the site. Still need to get around to scaling it (I think - wasn't sure what the vote was on this).

I like it. If you can, we are in dire need of a makeover on our SF site: (close your eyes)
http://warzone2100.sourceforge.net/
Was thinking to use what you have done now, and I can adjust the links...
and it ends here.

Have at it, or should you need someone to do it I can. The design was for WZ and its developers/community so I have no objections.

Erm, give me a good reason why that shouldn't be a redirect to either wz2100.net, the SF project page, or Trac. You've never clarified.

They don't want us to redirect (AFAIK), and we need to have the SF logo someplace on the page.

I don't got much time this week, but I will get back to you next week (or maybe week after that)... Do you have a sourceforge account?
and it ends here.

[ding ding ding]

Round 3... xD

Image

Concept that incorporates the WZ style HUD as a menu. Hover over effect would be as follows:

Hover over the factory (home) and "home" appears as text where it is shown, same goes for the rest of the links. Would require a little javascript but nothing hardcore. Radial portion of it would be interesting though I've had to do something like this in CSS before so its not that big of a deal code wise.

Overall look and feel changed to scale to 100% monitor width as well as remain clean and I've tried to give it an overall "nice look and feel".

Questions/Comments?

Boredom and productivity go hand and hand for me :D , holiday week so slow here which leaves time for other things. Glad you all like, like I've stated before font colors and misc stuff like that subject to change... Probably wont see a working (via website url) site until next week, sorry.

Looks good.

The color scheme is a bit dark, though. I'd like the main body to be dark text on light background, since dark backgrounds don't fit the forums, Trac, or the Guide. The most preferable is that the theme should match the current forums with no issues.

The menubar needs to have labels at all time. Hide-and-seek menus are horrible design - you should not have to mouse over something to figure out what it is. And no, cryptic icons are not enough.

As for the CSS, I can handle that. You're best off with relatively-positioning your <a> tags. No JavaScript necessary.

Hrm, that will pose a problem :( . The theme really only works with dark as it highlights the small things.

Figured that would be the case, which is why I was hesitant to use the WZ HUB. As stands with that request then current design is a no go.

Back to drawing boards.

I dunno, the menu could work. I rather like it, myself. What's wrong with putting labels on all of them?
