Mac Users

Post by Loscaldazar »

Well i have heard a lot of Mac users complain about how there is no way to flip from a full screen game to your desktop. Ok here is a solution but please read through the whole thing before disregarding or accepting it.

The is a program out there called Parallels (and several programs like, parallels seems to me the best). it does cost about $50-80 USD so it is expensive but what it allows you to do is run a Windows (XP or vista.. soon windows 7) at the same time as your Mac OS is running. Parallels runs like a browser on your Mac so you can change the size of it and even go to full screen mode and return.

So a lot of you are saying why should i spend $50-80 USD just so i can flip out from a full screen to the stuff i am supposed to be working on in the office. Then you can get games that are for windows and we all know there are sooo many more on windows out then mac and the come out sooner. Also if someone sends you an email or a document that is in a windows format that you can't open this program will automatically open it for you.

(Jeez that sounded like a sales pitch... sorry :)

There's also a program called VMWare Fusion. Fusion 3, which hasn't been released yet, is, imho, much better than Parallels.

Regardless, virtualization software like VMWare/Parallels don't work well for games, since games take more performance than VMs have. Even if you could get it to run at a decent FPS, your Mac would get hot, and it would drain battery tons if it weren't plugged in, and it still wouldn't be as good as just running the game natively.

AFAIK, if you can do it in other SDL based games, then you should be able to do it with this game as well.

SDL 1.2.14 has lots of Mac OS X bug fixes, so here is hoping...
and it ends here.

Thanks for sharing ! I've been figuring out how to do it for weeks now. It's a good thing I checked this forum.
