4c-pyramidal, should I complete it?
I haven't done much on the map in ages and I currently lack that much time. If people actually want me to finish it then I will do so, but I won't waste my time on something that people don't want. It would also be nice if I could get some people who can test it. (please vote in the poll)
Here is a preview of the map in its current state:

For what it is worth, I and some friends have played the plain flat version of that map a few times, and we thought it was one of the better LAN maps.

Great! Thanks per.Per wrote:For what it is worth, I and some friends have played the plain flat version of that map a few times, and we thought it was one of the better LAN maps.
Are you saying that a bumpy version would be better than a flat version?

It looks a bit big for a 4P map...

I decided to compare the sizes of the 4 player maps:Zarel wrote:It looks a bit big for a 4P map...
(Pyramidal is 152x152)
UrbanChaos (by me) is 64x64
Fishnet, Mountain and Rush are 92x92
ValleyOfDeath is 96x96
UrbanDuel and Cockpit are 128x128
(Pyramidal goes here; 152x152)
LittleEgypt, GreatRift, RollingHills and Basingstoke are 192x192
So what about all the maps which are 192x192?

I said "looks". It's not like you gave a .wz for me to test.
As for those other 192x192 maps, I find those a bit big as well.
But 152x152 seems fine. Carry on.

I don't think I ever tested the bumpy version. I generally like flatter maps better than "realistic" looking bumpy ones. Is the new version referenced above a bumpy version? If there is there a .wz I can test, I can try to give some more useful feedback.Mysteryem wrote:Are you saying that a bumpy version would be better than a flat version?

On viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2800 you can find a mianly untextured flat and bumpy version. You will, however, need to change it's name. All I did was add some noise and blur it to make it bumpy.Per wrote:I don't think I ever tested the bumpy version. I generally like flatter maps better than "realistic" looking bumpy ones. Although I'm currently turning the pictures I took on holiday into textures since I just got my camera back. (I'm nearly done

Looks great - I'm willing to test it with my friends, definetely.
I love maps with detailed topography, not necessarily rough. I really like the 8-player "Concrete", as an example.
And about the size, I think it's really good (everytime I play Valley it looks like I'm a big fish on a small tin can

I did not see any difference at first, had to look hard to see the bumps... I guess I do not really have much opinion on bumpy vs non-bumpy.Mysteryem wrote:On viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2800 you can find a mianly untextured flat and bumpy version. I love big maps...
Even if the amount of players is relatively small.
And that map is looking awesome, keep it up!

Re: 4c-pyramidal, should I complete it?
PLEASE finish it!!!
I'm dying for maps like that one...
Maps around 175*175-I can stand it...
Anything smaller:
There is no space to keep your units on safe, everything is exposed!Too small!I get claustrofobic on those maps! You can shoot at enemy's base with Scourge from your base!
And number of players isn't important...
Maybe is in some rare cases...
I think that there should be bigger maps.
But WZ only supports 250*250 and smaller maps...
Can it be solved?

Well, editworld only allows you to make maps up to 256x256, but using %installdirectory%\SAMPLES\LNDMAKER.EXE you can make maps which are larger, make it too large however, and the map won't function properly when adding gateways and the mini-map for the 3d and 2d views will cover most of the screen.13KukYNexus666 wrote:I agree with Kacen.Kacen wrote:I love big maps...

Re: 4c-pyramidal, should I complete it?
The game won't really work with maps larger than the standard 250x250. I do not really see the point of maps larger than that. There are very few maps made that use the full allowed size, and those maps are huge.
Let's just say that there are many other features in the wish list queue before larger map sizes.
