Hey guys,
I was hoping to have a LAN game with a few friends tonight but have run into a problem I cannot make my OSX and linux boxes join the same game "You have the wrong version of the game to join this game". There will be windows machines present aswel but I don't have one of those to test on yet.
I was wondering if cross platform just doesn't work but I assume it does so I have installed the latest versions from the download page OSX from the without fmv .dmg and Linux from the autocompile.sh. This hasn't fixed the problem so I checked build info on the two versions and they were build Aug 30 on OSX and Aug 31 on Linux i'm guessing this is the problem but I'm not sure how I can fix it or if there is a workaround (telling the game it's a different version or something).
Any help would be greatly appreciated and hopefully save our night

Re: Cross platform LAN
I am currently trying to compile the trunk release got it working on the Linux box with no hassle but waiting for a +700mb download of the latest version of X-Code for the mac on my pitiful 3g net connection :p I will report back if this fixes the problems.
If anyone has any suggestions to try in the meantime please post

Re: Cross platform LAN
You should be able to play cross platform LAN as long as they are all 2.2.2 clients, or all trunk. You can't play trunk <-> 2.2.x since they use different net code.ragein wrote:Hey guys,

Re: Cross platform LAN
Thanks for your post it made me re-think what I was doing ;p seems i'm abit of an idiot and didn't think this through enough. The version compiled with autocompile.sh doesn't work with the stable version for osx but If I download the tarball and compile it properly they work fine
Just got to go test the windows clients now.
Wish me luck

Re: Cross platform LAN
You know, if you have access to trunk or branch/2.2 for all platforms, it would be better to use that version for LAN, since the 3D sound works correctly now... or wait a few days for 2.2.3
and it ends here.
