On symmetrical warzone maps...

Post by icyflames »

Does anyone else dislike how almost all MP maps are symmetrical and unnatural? Mountain is awesome, and so is something like Startup...

I only play on the ones Coyote did, for the good layout (sometimes weird layout), but they dont look that good on old textures, and I dont know where to download the good textures so im f... up.

By the way Coyote... you need to start putting up more trees man... where are the trees!!!

thing is if you have a look at the martian landscape - do you see trees there - yes - thats where i got the inspiration for all of the maps i have been doing. i suppose i could add some trees for you... just dont forget what you asked for...

i won't... actually this game should have some models in the form of rocks, or rocky arrays, and stuff like that... to make maps more life like...

you can actually do a 3d model of a 3x3 rock, and put it in your martian maps, that would look COOL!!.

This game needs more objects on maps... and by the way... on your maps water seem to fly with the normal textures.

I remember a multiplayer adaptation of the alpha campaign main base map, which is not symmetrical at all.
Were you the one that made it, Coyote? I remember it was someone of the old folks (no offense ;) )
It should please pretty much anyone looking for a map with more detailed geography. And It would allow long games, also.

By the way, detailed geometry is the kind of thing that makes me fascinated with the campaign. Those radar scans in the cutscenes are simple, but yet, very interesting!

hmmm...
"landscape feel" doesn't get along very well with limited tilesets such as wz2100 ones, I think.
But don't consider my opinion to be accurate, let's wait and see what Coyote and the other people, who actually make maps, have to say.

.

Yea, WZ would look really neat with all those type terrain objects and textures. Like these, for example. Textures and Models made from digital photos I took in the Grand Junction area of Colorado 2 years ago now. And those cliff face are 3D models textured, not cliff-face tertiles like they are now. (Maps by me, all art by Grim Moroe.)

Good free photo derived textures that can be used with this project's license are not so easily acquired.

Even posting photos has to be done according to the parameters set by of the owners of said photos - attribution, etc.

Quote the quote I've quoted in my signature?
Fine by me!
:D

Well, the overall effect is really interesting, but it looks cartoonish, I must say. I've never used EditWorld, maybe it doesn't process the graphics like the game does? O_o
If the ingame results would look like that, the textures could use some detailment like, roughness, dirtiness etc.
It's a pity I don't have the time I've got in the past, otherwise I could do it. The community is getting much more active lately, but I can't spend much time here anymore... :stressed:
